What is Owlet Baby Care? Owlet Baby Care Review, Features

Founded in 2013, Owlet Baby Care is a sock-shaped smart device for babies that can monitor important physical indicators such as the heart rate of infants and children.

About Owlet Baby Care

  • Meet Owlet, a tracking device worn on the baby's ankle that keeps parents informed of their baby's health through a corresponding app. Owlet tracks heart rate, oxygen levels, skin temperature, and even provides warnings for tossing over during sleep;
  • The device uses a system called Pulse oximetry, which has been used in hospitals and pediatric clinics for years. Using readings, infrared light, and what they call a "smart sock," the device can measure heart rate and oxygen levels.
  • Owlet Baby Care can transmit the recorded information to a smartphone via Bluetooth 4.0. If parents do not have a smartphone, they can connect the smart socks via USB to see the readings on a computer, or connect the smart socks to the home WiFi network to see the readings on any connected device. The socks have all the electronic components installed in an insulated silicone rubber box to ensure that no one will be electrocuted.
