MercadoLibre Overview

MercadoLibre was founded by Marcos Galperin in Uruguay in 1999. The company received $7.6 million in financing from investors including JP Morgan at its inception and was listed on the Nasdaq in 2007. In 2013, eBay and Baillie Gifford became the two major controlling shareholders of MercadoLibre.

MercadoLibre operates in 19 countries including Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela. The Mexican site has received more than 80 million page views.

Settlement Fees

1. The application fee for joining the MercadoLibre platform is RMB 5,200.

2. All sellers applying for MercadoLibre must purchase and bind to the platform's designated software service provider: Tongtu ERP software online version for one year, costing 3,588 yuan.

Settlement process

After the seller passes the ESG review, he/she needs to sign a payment agreement with ESG and successfully pay the entry application fee of RMB 5,200 + the one-year fee of the Tongtu ERP software online version of RMB 3,588 (the first batch of 20 internal test sellers will be exempted from the entry application fee). ESG will then assist the seller in submitting the application to the platform and assist in the account going online.

Sellers' Notice

1. Hot-selling categories: electronics and accessories, mobile phones, fashion, home and garden, auto accessories and sporting goods.

Average selling prices (ASPs) (less than $50) and lighter items (less than 2 pounds) convert faster and can help new sellers build their reputation.

Restricted products:

Sellers should not upload listings with restrictions as these products will not be able to be shipped. On the other hand, products held by customs will not be able to be returned to the country of origin due to the export process required. Please review the restriction list below:

Restricted products for all countries: lithium batteries, fine jewelry (valuable).

Products restricted for sale in Mexico: Weapon toys, toys with figures, such as: Funko dolls, dolls of any kind, Barbie dolls, Lego figures, any type of products for children under 3 years old, untreated wood products: pencils, board games, etc.; medical equipment: thermometers, tensiometers, etc.; herbicides, pesticides, insect repellents; paints, varnishes, animals and animal products, food products, magnetized materials, monetary items.

2. Commission: uniform 16%;

3. Payment: Settlement through ESG

4. Logistics time: Tracking number will be issued within 48 hours. Delivery will be completed in 6-14 days. Warehouse address: Shenzhen, Hangzhou, Hong Kong.

5. Title and description: You can edit in English, and the platform will automatically translate the seller's title and description into Spanish and Portuguese. Please keep in mind that automatic translation is not perfect and will not be optimized for search. The platform strongly recommends that sellers translate their content to help sales staff make conversions.

6. Upload method: Sellers upload products through Tongtu, or directly connect to the platform through API.

7. SKU: There is no limit to the number of SKUs that can be uploaded. However:

*New sellers are limited to 1,000 SKUs. If you exceed 1,000, you need to contact MercadoLibre to review your data and remove the limit until the platform verifies your data. Once the initial data verification is completed, sellers will be able to upload more SKUs.

*If a sentence has a comma, use double quotes. For example, "This is a great product, you will love it"

8. Pricing: The seller's product pricing is displayed in the local currency. (For example, Mexican Pesos in Mexico, Brazilian Reals in Brazil, etc.).

9. Disputes: To obtain a good standing (light green or dark green), the dispute rate must be equal to or less than 3%.

10. About the Platform: Buyers can provide positive, neutral or negative feedback on their purchases. Sellers can also leave feedback (positive, neutral or negative) to buyers. Buyers can only leave neutral or negative feedback if the purchase was not completed. Feedback is hidden until both parties have given feedback. The number of claims against a seller also affects his reputation. Your reputation on MercadoLibre will have a significant impact on the search ranking of your items.
