Temu’s sales in the United States soared 840%!

Temu’s sales in the United States soared 840%!

Temu, a Chinese cross-border e-commerce platform, has become popular in the United States with its concept of "teaming up and offering lower prices".

It is reported that Temu's name is taken from "Team Up, Price Down", and it claims that its prices are always lower than other online sales platforms.

More than a year after its launch in the United States, investment firm Earnest conducted research on Temu.

Based on a review of credit card data, Earnest found that about 18% of U.S. households have made a purchase on Temu since its launch .

What’s most surprising is that although Temu has not yet attracted large brands to settle in, it has not affected its development in the United States.

Take sales as an example. Data shows that Temu's sales increased by 840% between January 2023 and 2024, and reached 1,100% during the 2023 holiday season.

The most interesting thing is Temu's customer loyalty. Earnest's report shows that more than 28% of Temu users will trade on the platform again 16 months after their first purchase. This number is almost twice that of Walmart and Target customers and about half that of Amazon.

More than a quarter of users continue to shop on Temu one year after their first purchase. Customer loyalty and user retention are crucial for e-commerce platforms, and these data also indicate that Temu has a promising future in the United States.

It is worth mentioning that although the product quality has been questioned, the Consumer Protection Office of Quebec said that it received 6 complaints about Temu in two years, and its spokesman Charles Tanguay said that this number is not high. They involved packages not being delivered, packages being stolen, and difficulty contacting customer service when problems occurred.

In addition, Temu's popularity in the United States is undeniable. According to foreign media reports, a retiree in Montreal is a loyal fan of Temu and has placed 60 orders in less than a year, with an average amount of $40-50.

However, this loyal fan also complained about Temu's "games", which allow users to get free items. The fan said that free items are becoming more and more available, but the harder they are to get, the more addictive they are. Even when she is walking the cat outside, she keeps thinking about this problem.

Of course, the user also said that Temu has its unique advantages, such as low product prices and its page.

Additionally, the fan said that she no longer plays free games on Temu because it takes up too much of her time, but she will continue to purchase items on the platform.
