Amazon officially announced a holiday delivery fee increase, sellers: I can’t bear it anymore

Amazon's annual holiday peak fulfillment fees (FBA) will take effect from October 15, 2023 to January 14, 2024 , Amazon wrote in the announcement .

The seasonal fee is similar to those charged by other airlines and primarily covers the increased costs of delivery and transportation operations during the busy holiday shopping season.

In terms of sites, Amazon said that holiday peak delivery rates for FBA in the United States and Canada will remain the same as in 2022.

In addition, Amazon specifically emphasized that even if the holiday peak delivery costs are included, Amazon's average delivery costs are still about 30% cheaper than the standard delivery services of other third-party logistics providers.

It is understood that this year's holiday peak delivery fees will apply to US FBA, Canada FBA, Amazon's remote delivery program, and Multi-Channel Fulfillment (MCF), except for US FBA priced below US$10.

An Amazon spokesperson said: "From some perspectives, raising shipping costs for the holiday shopping season makes sense. We are still waiting for the USPS to announce whether it will impose a holiday surcharge this year, which would mark the fourth consecutive year that a surcharge has been imposed."

An Amazon forum moderator also explained to sellers that the fee reflects the various costs of providing delivery services to sellers, and said that Amazon's goal is to provide a stable and predictable selling environment and new rates will only be introduced when absolutely necessary.

Sellers were obviously not satisfied with this response. Many sellers expressed their dissatisfaction under this announcement.

“I can’t believe they had the guts to increase delivery fees during peak shopping season this year. More and more customers are now going to Temu and our sales have dropped drastically. Amazon has done nothing but charge sellers more.”

Another seller said sarcastically: "Oh, great, does this mean Amazon will provide holiday delivery service? It's great to have such an efficient and excellent delivery service!"

Some sellers had a more moderate attitude, "Is it possible that the delivery fee can be reduced a little this year?" However, Amazon still only responded with a very official statement.

It can be seen that sellers' business is indeed more difficult this year than in previous years, which explains why everyone is so sensitive to the increase in delivery fees.
