With the popularity of fast fashion, shein, as a leader in the industry, has also attracted more and more fans.

 

According to research by the app Joko , shein is not only loved by the younger generation in France, but is also increasingly popular among consumers over the age of 30 thanks to its favorable prices and rich clothing styles.

 

Specifically, in January 2020, the proportion of new customers aged 30+ was 41%. By June this year, the proportion of this group among new customers had reached 61%.

 

Joko also anonymously analyzed the orders of 500,000 French users aged 18 to 44 from January 1, 2020 to June 30, 2023, and found something surprising: the proportion of new male users of shein jumped from 16% in January 2020 to more than 45% in June this year, accounting for nearly half of the total.

  Joko believes that the above phenomenon is related to the home isolation of Covid-19 . The inability to go out has prompted the French to choose e-commerce channels for shopping. Data shows that during the 111 days of home isolation, shein gained 26% of new users.

 

The growth in the number of users also means an increase in revenue. From January 2020 to June 2023, shein's sales increased tenfold, with sales in 2021 up 86% year-on-year from 2020. Although there was a brief pause in 2022, with sales falling by 12%, the company's sales set a new record in the first half of this year, especially in May, which was 10 times higher than in January 2020.

 

Between January 2020 and June 2023, the average order amount of consumers on shein remained basically stable, spending about 53 euros each time, 10 euros higher than the average order amount of Zara and 16 euros higher than H&M. In addition, consumers seem to be very satisfied with the quality of shein's orders, with an average of 2.8 shopping times per year.

 

In addition, according to foreign media reports, following the debuts in Paris and Toulouse a few months ago, Shein will also open a flash store in Marseille to strengthen the company's public image and expand its influence in the French fashion industry.
