Japan's Radio Law clearly stipulates that all wireless devices sold in Japan must have a technical certificate (gijyutsu kijyun tekigō shōmei, abbreviated as giteki), and electronic devices are no exception.
About Giteki In Japan, products for radio waves and electrical communications need to apply for Giteki certification, and the Giteki certification mark (also called the technical compliance mark) must be stamped on the product. Manufacturers of Amazon Japan are required to obtain Giteki certification when launching electronic devices with wireless functions, otherwise they will be removed from the shelves to ensure that the radio equipment is model approved (i.e., technical regulations compliance certification). In Japan, any product involving wireless devices, such as laptops, APs, routers, landlines, mobile phones, LTE to Wi-Fi conversion, Bluetooth headsets, etc., must pass Giteki certification, and the Giteki logo and the issued number must be affixed or printed on the certified product. If you do not have this certification, it is illegal to sell directly in Japan and you will be severely punished. Giteki certification is a mandatory certification.
Certification basis Japan's Giteki certification as a whole relies on the Ministry of Internal Affairs and The certification is based on the "Radio Wave Act" and the "Electronic Communications Business Act" promulgated by the "Radio Wave Act" (referred to as "MIC"). Therefore, some people refer to giteki certification as MIC certification. Because both types of certifications have the Chinese character "技適", they are collectively referred to as: giteki certification. Compared with the name of MIC certification, in fact, based on the final certification logo, it is more accurate to call it giteki certification.
Scope of certification The scope of giteki certification mainly includes 2.4G products, Bluetooth products, WIFI products, and RFID products. Including the best-selling wireless headphones, Bluetooth speakers, drones, tablets, and mobile phones on Amazon Japan, all need to pass giteki certification.
Certification bodies As of January 1, 2016, no laboratory registered in mainland China is qualified to issue Japanese Giteki certification. The number of laboratories that issue certifications under the Radio and Telecommunications Business Law is less than 25 worldwide. Most of them are in Japan, and a few are located in the United States, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Germany and other countries.
