AliExpress remains the largest cross-border e-commerce platform in Chile, far surpassing Amazon

According to Chilean media reports, statistics from consulting firm Kawes Lab in the first quarter of this year showed that AliExpress from China accounted for 42% of Chile's cross-border e-commerce platform transactions, continuing to rank first, far exceeding its competitors Amazon and Shein.

As a full-category e-commerce platform, AliExpress is attracting more and more Chilean consumers who are keen on overseas shopping. Christian Oros, CEO of Kawes Lab, pointed out that AliExpress is an important platform for such transactions, with a complete range of products and more affordable prices than other channels.

 

Statistics show that AliExpress's market share increased from 31% in the same period of 2020 to 42%, while Shein replaced Amazon as the second largest cross-border e-commerce platform in the first quarter of 2023, with a market share of 16% and Amazon's 14%.

 

In recent years, the "Four Little Dragons" of Chinese e-commerce, including AliExpress, Shein, Temu, and Tiktok, have all made efforts to help Chinese companies go overseas and constantly challenge Amazon. Oros said: AliExpress is the best platform for all categories of goods, while Shein specializes in the fashion field. They conquered the Chilean market under the circumstances of economic downturn and high inflation, and Amazon could only retreat behind.
