Andy and his wife first came into contact with Amazon in 2012, when a friend recommended them to start a business selling goods on Amazon. They never expected that their store would be able to achieve an annual revenue of tens of millions of dollars in the future.

 

According to Andy, he had a terrible childhood experience. Both of his parents had mental illnesses. It was a distant relative who finally took him in and gave him the opportunity to go to school.

 

After graduation, Andy, like many other graduates, chose to work. However, with his tragic childhood, Andy was obviously not willing to live a life with a foreseeable end.

 

Therefore, when his friend proposed the Amazon startup project, Andy agreed without even thinking about it. At first, Andy mainly sold some second-hand products found in discount stores on Amazon and made a little profit from the difference.



But it was clear that this business model was not a long-term solution. At that time, the movie "Frozen" was just released, so the couple thought of making some peripheral products (for some reason they were not complained of infringement), and the result was a hit, and the products were sold out as soon as they were put on the shelves.

 

With this successful experience, Andy will pay attention to current trends when selecting products in the future, and then determine his own product selection based on the trends.

 

Having said that, Andy and his wife barely managed to break even in their first two years at Amazon and made no money at all . After a while, the couple felt that this was not working and they had to find some categories with higher profits and less competition.

 

At that time, they chose home furnishings and household tools products. Although the profits of such products were high, the couple did not know much about such products, so there was still an element of risk involved.

 

Some products did not sell well after they were put on the shelves, and in order to reduce storage costs, we had to clear out the inventory at a loss. Fortunately, most of the products sold well, and I earned the first pot of gold.



Of course, business is not always smooth sailing. One night, Andy was preparing to set up a coupon for the next week's promotion. In a hurry, he set the coupon to "zero-yuan purchase". He didn't realize the problem until the next morning, but it was too late. This mistake caused a loss of tens of thousands of yuan.

 

Because it was his own mistake, Andy did not ask the consumer to cancel the order. However, after this incident, consumers' favorability towards Andy's store increased greatly, which can be regarded as a blessing in disguise.

 

In 2017, they founded their own diaper brand store and began to turn to branding. This move was obviously in line with the trend at the time. By 2020, Andy's brand had become a big seller in the baby product segment. That was also the year they moved into the big house they had always dreamed of.

 

In their words, if you want to do well on Amazon, you must dare to take risks. If you are optimistic about a product, don't just wait and see, otherwise others may register the trademark or intellectual property rights first.

 

However, the stories of successful people are always tempting, but every entrepreneur needs to make the most suitable choice based on his or her actual situation.
