Cainiao joins hands with South Korea's CJ Logistics to accelerate the realization of "three-day delivery" between China and South Korea and optimize AliExpress logistics services

Recently, Cainiao and South Korea's CJ Logistics Company (hereinafter referred to as CJ Logistics) officially announced a partnership. The two parties will jointly optimize China-South Korea cross-border logistics services, combine their experience and advantages in the logistics field, and accelerate the realization of Cainiao International Express's China-South Korea cross-border "three-day delivery" coverage across South Korea, so that Korean consumers' cross-border consumption can have the shopping experience of local e-commerce platforms.

Import and export data previously released by the General Administration of Customs showed that in 2022, the trade volume between China and South Korea reached US$362.2 billion, making South Korea China's fourth largest trading partner in 2022. Data released by the Korea Statistics Office showed that South Korea's online shopping transaction volume reached 206.4 trillion won in 2022, an increase of 10.4% over 2021, setting a record high.

 

The steady development of China-ROK trade and the continued growth of online shopping transactions in South Korea have provided more imagination for cross-border e-commerce and made the timeliness and service of cross-border logistics more important.

 

In 2022 , Cainiao continued to increase its investment in cross-border logistics between China and South Korea. In the first half of the year, Cainiao officially launched the South Korean distribution center and card-class routes, and the overall delivery time of cross-border packages is expected to be saved by more than 12 hours ; in the second half of the year, during the Double 11 promotion, Cainiao teamed up with AliExpress to officially open the Yantai export preferred warehouse. Together with the previously opened Weihai preferred warehouse, cross-border goods stocked in Shandong have gradually achieved "next-day delivery" of orders, and some orders can be "next-day delivery" .

 

In this cooperation between Cainiao and CJ Logistics, both parties will further optimize and explore the China-Korea cross-border logistics services for Korean consumers and domestic merchants. For example, the two parties and AliExpress conducted in-depth discussions on the construction of a fulfillment center in Korea and service guarantees for local consumers.

 

Shin Young-soo, the representative of CJ Logistics Express and E-commerce Department, mentioned at the AliExpress Korea press conference in March, "For CJ, being able to establish cooperative relationships with leading global e-commerce partners such as AliExpress and Cainiao means creating greater value. In the future, we will continue to optimize cross-border logistics services, improve the collaboration system, and optimize consumers' services and experience."

 

 

Wang Ke, head of Cainiao International Express in Asia Pacific, said, " The cooperation with CJ Logistics marks the further improvement of Cainiao's China-Korea cross-border logistics system and cross-border shopping experience. Even when dealing with cross-border peak seasons such as the 328th anniversary celebration, we can still provide logistics service experience and guarantees comparable to local e-commerce." In the past year, Cainiao's business in South Korea has maintained steady growth . After the Weihai and Yantai preferred warehouses were launched one after another, services such as door-to-door collection, direct shipment of goods, and fulfillment trusteeship have further reduced the burden on merchants. The delivery time of preferred warehouses is optimized by about 20% compared with cross-border direct shipment , and the average daily order volume of preferred warehouses in the fourth quarter of 2022 increased by nearly 100% compared with the third quarter.

 

It is understood that Cainiao's average daily cross-border parcel volume ranks among the top four in the world. Among them, its " 5 US dollars for 10 days" logistics product has covered 20 countries around the world, including the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Spain, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Portugal.
