Walmart cuts service fees!

It is understood that Walmart is actively recruiting more sellers to join its platform recently - data shows that Walmart recruited 8,000 new sellers in the third quarter of 2022. And this week it launched a new campaign, hoping to attract more American sellers to its platform.

The campaign shows that sellers who enter the market through this campaign will enjoy a 90-day service fee reduction . If they complete the new seller survey before going online, they will receive a 10% service fee discount, and if they use Walmart 's logistics services, they will receive another 5% fee reduction .

Walmart will also offer a 5% fee reduction to sellers using its marketplace advertising program , and sellers will also receive a $500 credit toward their search advertising .

Manish Joneja announced the news on Walmart 's blog on Thursday . It is understood that he previously worked at eBay and Amazon and joined Walmart last fall . He is currently the senior vice president of Walmart's US market and Walmart fulfillment services.

In his post , Joneja said Walmart is one of the fastest growing marketplaces in the U.S. , with more than 118 million visits per month . He also said, In its Q3 FY2023 earnings report released last November , Walmart announced that the number of SKUs on its platform had increased by 50% to 370 million, and continues to increase every day .

Joneja also stated in the post that Walmart hopes to become the preferred platform for all types of sellers with its low cost and ease of use, and announced that Walmart is trying to optimize the seller experience through a smoother onboarding process and more advanced tools and resources.

“Sellers who choose Walmart’s marketplace have access to our proprietary solutions and services, and we will help them grow their businesses and succeed, which is the competitive advantage of working with the world’s leading retailer.”

However, in order to participate in this event, sellers must be new users who have not previously settled in Walmart and need to use its fulfillment service to join . In addition, there are some details that can be viewed on Walmart’s official website for event details and FAQs.

In any case, this news can be regarded as a shot in the arm for cross-border sellers, providing a development direction for sellers who want to deploy multiple channels. It also shows Walmart's determination to develop its e-commerce business.
