New options besides Temu and Shein have emerged, and many cross-border sellers have joined!

At any time, cross-border sellers are constantly looking for new sales channels and opportunities. Old sellers need to use multi-channel operations to spread risks, and factory-type sellers need to find a "simpler" one-click overseas model. The emergence of AliExpress's "full trusteeship" is just in time.

New channels emerge, and foreign trade companies flock to join

A cross-border insider revealed that many foreign trade companies have joined AliExpress's "full trusteeship" service. In the latest batch of companies that have joined, in addition to clothing giants and 3C factory super sellers from Fujian, there are also a considerable number of small and medium-sized factories and integrated industry and trade sellers. This year, there are many similar supply or consignment platforms, and some foreign trade companies seem to have "unlocked" a new "password for going overseas."

In fact, the manufacturing industry has had a "silent desire" to go overseas for many years. Because of the rich experience in supply chain, from Amazon's "Manufacturing+" project to Wish's "Star Factory" plan, factory-type and industrial and trade-integrated merchants have always been the seller group that cross-border e-commerce platforms have been striving to win over.

But most of the time, directly connecting factory-type sellers to third-party platforms will not adapt to the local environment. Due to different business models and the lack of factory e-commerce genes and operational experience, many companies ultimately give up after a brief attempt at cross-border business. What they need is a tailor-made overseas expansion plan.

With the economic recovery, "e-commerce 'shipbuilding', Made in China 'going overseas'" has become the development focus of the export industry, and foreign trade companies have also found a way to go overseas that suits them - the supply model.

This model eliminates the biggest pain point for factories and foreign trade sellers. Sellers only need to focus on product supply, and store operations, logistics, after-sales and other work are all taken over by the platform, which significantly improves the success rate of going overseas. Because it greatly reduces the operating threshold of cross-border e-commerce, the supply model has gradually become popular, and Temu has broken the ice in the overseas market.

Platform services are "rolling up", and sellers have the opportunity to do "multiple choice questions" only when they go overseas

Among the four cross-border e-commerce platforms known as the "Four Little Dragons Going Global" this year, SHEIN, AliExpress, and Temu have successively launched similar supply models. Among them, AliExpress has launched "full trusteeship" as a service supplement in addition to the original platform model.

In order to attract more sellers, these platforms inevitably compete on services and subsidies. For the seller group, this competitive situation has invisibly lowered some of the thresholds for going overseas.

Similar to not long ago, Temu cancelled part or all of the freight subsidies for domestic delivery of goods, and some sellers' sales plans were disrupted. Now they have other platform options.

It is understood that some merchants also operated on Temu and SHEIN before joining AliExpress's full hosting service .

The liquidity of sellers will also stimulate the service adjustment of the platform. A cross-border person believes: "The choices of sellers for supply are increasing, which is a good thing for the industry." Nowadays, the trend of multi-platform supply operation has begun to emerge. Factory-type and integrated industrial and trade sellers have begun to do "multiple choice questions" and operate on multiple platforms such as AliExpress Full Trusteeship, SHEIN, Temu, etc. at the same time, making the business more flexible and reducing the operating risks of a single platform.

The platform model is becoming more mature, and more and more companies are joining. Currently, AliExpress's "full trusteeship" has begun to introduce new merchants to register, and the first batch of merchants include a large number of well-known sellers. Some AliExpress sellers also said that they have connected to the full trusteeship service, just prepared goods for testing, and will start selling soon.

AliExpress's "full trusteeship" has a very clear division of labor. Sellers open fully-trusted stores, make reasonable quotations after considering costs and profits, and then prepare goods at AliExpress's preferred warehouses in China. These goods will be presented to consumers through exclusive channels. Full trusteeship helps foreign trade companies open up C-end sales, skip the management links that they are not good at, and push products directly to overseas consumers.

It is reported that AliExpress's fully managed stores currently do not charge commissions and have a relatively fast sales return; all cross-border logistics are the responsibility of the platform . The platform provides a 3-month after-sales exemption period for the products of the first batch of fully managed stores. Any refunds during the exemption period will be the responsibility of the platform.

A senior foreign trade person believes that when new things appear, if they are suitable, they are worth a try. "I think it is a good thing that major platforms have lowered the threshold for cross-border transactions. Now the only threshold is just the product. Even if you don't know English or operations, you can still do cross-border transactions if you have product advantages."
