Among them, 98% of consumers said that Amazon has become their preferred online shopping platform. In addition to Amazon, 43% of the younger generation and 35% of millennials plan to shop on Etsy , while the silent generation tends to shop on eBay .

Data shows that 63% of American consumers believe that continued inflation and the impending economic recession have affected their holiday shopping plans. In order to save money for holiday gifts, 49% plan to buy discounted items, 37% plan to limit the number of gifts they buy, and 36% plan to shop online frequently to save transportation fees for offline shopping.

Meanwhile, 35% of U.S. consumers plan to spend less this holiday season because they feel less financially secure due to the current economic situation. Only 11% of U.S. consumers plan to spend more this holiday season, and 41% of these people are from Generation Z , who say they are financially secure .

It is worth noting that more than half of American consumers plan to start holiday shopping early. Among them, 40% of consumers plan to start buying holiday gifts before Thanksgiving, which is an increase of 15% compared with last year. 27% of consumers plan to start holiday shopping before Halloween, an increase of 18% compared with last year.

According to Shopkick ’s survey data, only 43% of consumers plan to buy holiday goods on Black Friday this year, a decrease of 18% compared to last year. 27% of consumers plan to shop on Cyber Monday, a decrease of 40% compared to last year. Most of these consumers are from Generation Z and Millennials .

Discount promotions are very attractive to consumers during the holiday season. 77% of American consumers said that discount promotions have the greatest impact on them when they start shopping during the holiday season. Therefore, sellers can launch discount promotions in a timely manner to increase the number of orders during the holiday season.

Brittany Billings, executive vice president of marketing and strategic markets at Shopkic, said that continued inflation has affected consumers ' holiday budgets . At this critical time, brands should provide consumers with product value as much as possible to attract consumers to place orders . Before the holiday season arrives, online and offline retailers and sellers should start discount promotions as early as possible , because most American consumers plan to start holiday shopping early this year.

In the current complex economic environment in the United States, sellers are facing many challenges, and it is crucial to adjust operational strategies in advance.
