Sellers who have deep roots in the European and American markets know that children's products have always been the most prone to failures. They are always closely monitored by local regulatory agencies, and products are often sentenced to "death" and recalled from the shelves.
Recently, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission ( CPSC ) and the baby rocking chair brand 4moms announced that they would recall more than 2 million products of the brand, with the recall number 22-200 , including approximately 2 million MamaRoo cradles with three-point safety belts and 220,000 RockaRoo rocking chairs .
It is reported that these products are extremely popular among consumers in North America, with sales of over 70,000 units in Canada alone and sales of over one million units in the United States.
The recall states that when the swing or rocker is not in use, the product 's seat belts may fall down and hang below the seat, where an infant could become entangled in the belts , posing an entanglement and strangulation hazard.
The recall only includes MamaRoo bassinets with three-point harnesses: Versions 1.0 and 2.0 (Model 4M-005), Version 3.0 (Model 1026), and Version 4.0 (Model 1037) . It does not include MamaRoo bassinets with five-point harnesses .
As of the time the recall was issued, 4moms had received two reports of seat belt entanglement incidents involving MamaRoo infant cradles. A 10-month-old baby died of suffocation due to being strangled by the seat belt , and another 10 -month-old baby suffered bruises on his neck.
Although no accidents have been reported with the RockaRoo ( model 4M-012 ) rocking chair , it poses the same risk and is also being recalled .
The products have been sold at Target , 4moms.com , Amazon and other platforms since January 2010 , with prices ranging from $ 160 to $250.
In addition, the UK Office of Product Safety and Standards ( OPSS) recently announced the recall of a set of children's bath toys - the little yellow duck bath toy set , with the recall numbers being 2206-0394 , 2206-0256, 2206-0221, and 2206-0372 .
According to the recall information, since this product is a plastic product and contains excessively high concentrations of plastic plasticizers , namely phthalates, young children may inhale toxic chemicals from the toy when using it , which may affect their health. The product also has small components that pose a choking hazard.
Therefore, this product does not comply with the requirements of the UK REACH Implementing Regulations 2008 and the Toys (Safety) Regulations 2011.
At present, OPSS has announced that it will withdraw the product from the market and notified e-commerce platforms such as eBay and Amazon to remove the product from the shelves . At the same time, OPSS recommends that consumers stop using the product immediately and contact the dealer for compensation .
Children's products are in high demand and have a large market, so these products often become "profit harvesters." However, precisely because there are so many consumers, they are more easily regulated, and the requirements for safety and compliance are more stringent. Therefore, sellers must pay attention to the regulatory dynamics of relevant departments to prevent their products from being removed from the shelves, or to mistakenly put non-compliant products on the shelves, resulting in both loss and loss of business.
