The difficulty of operating in the industry has increased significantly this year. It is difficult for new sellers with little experience to make a living. He has decided to change careers and is seeking advice from his peers about new industries . Because he did not receive any commission this year, one operator said directly that "it is too tiring and I still can't make any money", and it is foreseeable that he will not get any commission in the next few months, so he wants to change careers and become a service provider.
But Amazon is still promising. Another operator also tried to change careers. She applied for an English translator and website foreign language editor position. She passed the interview and the monthly salary was 12.5k, which seemed to be no worse than doing cross-border business. But in the end, she chose to continue working at Amazon because she felt she could make more money here.
While some people are changing careers, others are still rushing into the cross-border e-commerce track. If the entrants have certain advantages, then Amazon is still a relatively good choice.
Amazon still has the most money to make
At present, sellers are complaining about not making money on the Amazon platform and the serious internal competition. In this regard, an industry insider bluntly said: "Based on the current situation, working alone on Amazon is still better than working for others. You earn less now, but there are still many people who make millions of dollars a year."
Obviously, what most sellers say about "this year is more difficult" is relative. But when the overall market is not good, what industry can make you rich quickly? In terms of return on investment, cross-border e-commerce is still a good industry.
A person who has worked in logistics for more than ten years told the editor that he is preparing to switch to being a seller. However, he has no idea about the platform to choose. He is worried that opening a store on Amazon will not go smoothly, and he is also concerned about the poor backend management of Walmart or the large initial investment of other platforms. He is at a loss for a while.
According to sellers’ analysis, among multiple cross-border e-commerce platforms, Amazon is still worth doing business on, and in comparison, this platform is relatively friendly to both new and old sellers. A colleague has a similar view, and he frankly said that among so many cross-border platforms , Amazon is the most promising. If sellers work hard to accumulate on some small platforms, but the latter have the potential risk of bankruptcy, then once problems arise, all the sellers’ early efforts will be in vain.
After the July Member Day promotion, some Amazon sellers saw a rebound in traffic, with many people reporting an increase in orders and some products even sold out. A manufacturer that supplies cross-border sellers said that the overall order volume in June and July did increase significantly compared to the first half of the year.
Not only have the performance of old sellers increased, but some new sellers have also tasted the sweetness. Li Juan joined Amazon at the beginning of this year and has started to make a profit after operating for about half a year. She said frankly that Amazon is the best platform she has ever worked on, and it is not too late to join now. She feels that she has missed tens of millions of dollars before.
Li Juan previously operated other cross-border e-commerce platforms. Thanks to her accumulated experience in products and operations, she had a certain understanding of the consumption and aesthetic habits of Europeans and Americans, so she achieved good results soon after her products were put on the shelves.
Talking about her experience of entering the Amazon market this year, Li Juan said: "Compared with other platforms, I feel that Amazon is relatively easy to operate. The art design and pictures are all outsourced, and the products are shipped to FBA. I select a few products and slowly operate them. I find that the overall performance is good."
In Li Juan's opinion, Amazon is relatively friendly to new sellers if the following three points are achieved :
1. Product selection: Choosing the right product is the first step. You must choose it according to the aesthetics and preferences of European and American people, and conduct careful observation and testing ; 2. Advertising: In this situation, the natural traffic on Amazon has decreased and the order volume is not stable. Unstable rankings and sales mean unstable turnover, which means that the store's situation cannot be good. Therefore, it is critical to continue to do a good job of advertising to stabilize the order volume ; 3. Negative reviews: Negative reviews on Amazon have a high weight, so they must be controlled to avoid causing customer dissatisfaction, which may lead to returns or even negative reviews.
Li Juan's experience is not an isolated case. Some people fail in this industry, and others enter the market to make money all the time . The process of industry development is also a process of survival of the fittest.
