Shopify partners with YouTube to reach 2 billion monthly active users worldwide

Recently, Yien learned from the official website of Canadian e-commerce company Shopify that YouTube has reached a cooperation with Shopify to launch a new online shopping function.

The cooperation between the two means that Shopify's platform has an additional sales channel for millions of merchants around the world, and the opportunity to place product purchase links on YouTube, one of the world's largest entertainment platforms.

 

According to public data, YouTube is the world's second largest social media network, with approximately 2 billion active users per month. It is popular all over the world. India is currently the country with the largest number of YouTube viewers, with approximately 467 million users, followed by the United States with approximately 247 million users, and third is Indonesia with 139 million users.

 

For YouTube, cooperation with Shopify allows viewers to complete shopping without leaving the website, thereby increasing user stickiness; for Shopify, cooperation with YouTube can significantly help improve conversion rates, thereby increasing the total amount of merchandise transactions.

 

According to official news from Shopify, the YouTube shopping function supports Shopify platform merchants to sell their full range of products through live broadcasts, videos, and store tags.

 

Specifically, merchants can place product purchase links during the live broadcast. Consumers do not need to leave the YouTube website, but can shop in the form of picture-in-picture and watch videos while checking out. The second way is that merchants can display a list of featured products on the product shelf below the on-demand video. The third way is that a new tab will be added to the merchant's YouTube channel to display all of the merchant's product categories.

 

Although consumers do not need to leave the YouTube website to make purchases, the Shopify platform is still the retail operating system for merchants' products, and the product details on the YouTube website can also be updated in real time on the Shopify platform. If the product is sold out, the system will automatically remove it from YouTube. In addition, the Shopify backend can also record the effects of live and on-demand videos on the YouTube platform, helping merchants to fully understand multi-channel sales.

To facilitate merchants , Shopify's official website has also sorted out how to sell products on YouTube: first, you need to install the Google channel in the Shopify app store, then log in to your YouTube account in the YouTube shopping section of the Google channel, then you can select the products you want to display on the YouTube platform, and finally add the products to the corresponding videos.

 

It is reported that in addition to cooperating with the YouTube platform, Shopify has also established cooperative relationships with TikTok, Facebook, Instagram and other social media platforms, allowing users on these platforms to simultaneously browse Shopify product information, greatly increasing product exposure. This type of cooperation has achieved significant results. Shopify said that the platform's orders increased fourfold in the first quarter of this year.

 

YouTube has a larger user base. Based on the results of Shopify's previous cooperation with other social media, this cooperation with YouTube will bring greater benefits to Shopify.
