Amazon, eBay and Etsy face charges of selling fake goods

Amazon, eBay and Etsy are facing charges of selling counterfeit goods after unscrupulous sellers sold fake "Rebellious Hope" T-shirts on the three platforms .

It is understood that this "Rebellious Hope" T-shirt was jointly launched by podcast host Dame Deborah James and fashion retailer In The Style . It comes in four colors : navy blue, white, pink and black. The official sales channel is the In The Style platform , and the price is 15 pounds . All profits from this product will go to the British Cancer Research Fund ( Bowelbabe ) .

This T-shirt is currently very popular in the UK market. Because it is profitable, a large number of counterfeit products of the same model have appeared on Amazon, eBay and Etsy platforms.

Counterfeit "Rebellious Hope" T-shirts are selling for as much as £42 on Etsy , while the same fakes are selling for £15 each on Amazon and £10 each on eBay .

Many consumers who buy items from third-party sellers believe the money is going to charity , but this is not the case.

Adam Frisby, founder of the In The Style platform, recently posted a post on Instagram warning consumers to be careful about buying counterfeit products from other platforms because the profits from these counterfeit products will not go to Cancer Research UK.

It is understood that the Cancer Research UK ( BowelBabe ) was founded by Dame Deborah and her family to fund clinical trials and research new treatments for cancer patients, while raising awareness of bowel cancer.

Following the death of founder Deborah, who died on June 28 at the age of 40 after a five-year battle with bowel cancer , the activist's Bowelbabe fund has soared to more than £6.8 million.

Sarah Coles, an expert at British financial services company Hargreaves Lansdown , said it was hard to imagine that Amazon, eBay and Etsy platforms would openly sell counterfeit goods. It was despicable that these unscrupulous sellers used the name of charity fundraising to make huge profits .

An eBay spokesperson said : "We have determined that some items on the platform violate eBay 's policies and we have removed them. "

Amazon said : " We are currently removing all products associated with Dame Deborah James and related charities and apologise for any distress this may have caused. "

The attitude of foreign e-commerce markets towards counterfeits has always been zero tolerance. Once counterfeits are discovered, the products will be taken off the shelves or deleted. Sellers in the UK market must take the time to conduct self-inspections to avoid adverse effects on their stores due to the sale of counterfeits.
