However, while e-commerce plays an important role, there are some illegal activities that have, to some extent, caused consumers to lose confidence in this shopping channel. According to foreign media reports, recently , sellers on some Vietnamese e-commerce platforms have used real images of famous trademarks to advertise their products, and the prices are much lower than those on the official website. The actions of these sellers usually target people who want used branded goods at low prices , and after receiving the payment from the buyer through online payment methods, they send the products without the certificate of origin. A representative of L'Oréal Vietnam said the company had found several websites advertising products for hundreds of thousands of VND per item, significantly lower than the official website price. Not long ago, Vietnam’s Department of Cybersecurity and High-Tech Crime Prevention (affiliated to the Ministry of Public Security) worked with the Hanoi Market Supervision Bureau to accidentally discover five warehouses of two popular online stores . In these warehouses, they found more than 2,000 counterfeit products, including various well-known brands such as Gucci , Louis Vuitton , Hermes , Burberry or Versace. Seeing the complexity of online shopping, one buyer said she was afraid to buy anything of value, such as clothes , glasses , wallets or health -related items , over the Internet . Officials from the market surveillance agency reported that to bring a case against the sale of counterfeit goods, effective evidence is required, however, most reported cases are still online transactions without clear invoices. Tran Huu Linh, director of the Vietnam Market Supervision Agency , said there were many troubles in retrieving invoices for goods sold through e-commerce channels because his organization did not have the authority to request bank statements or financial transaction documents from suspicious persons. In fact, illegal sellers, in addition to using normal transportation services to store and deliver their fake goods so that market supervision cannot inspect them, have made full use of nascent e-commerce methods and continued to conduct international trade to promote their sales. These illegal activities have also prompted relevant local national regulatory authorities to issue appropriate policies and legal documents to clearly encourage legal e-commerce activities in a healthy competitive environment, while imposing stricter penalties on violators to protect the legitimate rights and interests of consumers . These cases are also a warning to many sellers that counterfeit and infringing products should no longer be sold and legal red lines should not be crossed at will.
