Competition is fierce! Major Korean e-commerce companies are launching a "speed competition"!

The listing of Coupang, South Korea's largest e-commerce platform , on the New York Stock Exchange was like a spark that ignited the entire Korean e-commerce market.

Major Korean e-commerce platforms have begun to imitate Coupang's "rocket delivery" model, launching next-day delivery services and also promoting same-day delivery services.

Naver and CJ Logistics join forces

South Korean media reported that Naver plans to establish a "logistics-related strategic partnership" with CJ Logistics and start " fast delivery ."

According to CJ Logistics , in order to achieve "fast delivery", a plan is being implemented to diversify delivery services , such as designated date delivery and today's arrival.

Among them, today's arrival service is for orders placed before 10 am , and if ordered after 2 pm on the same day, it will be delivered that evening. A strategy to increase the speed of delivery by using a two-wheeled vehicle delivery network was proposed.

In addition, there are solutions based on artificial intelligence (AI) to predict customer demand and inventory days and maximize processing volume.

In response, Naver CEO Han Sung-sook said : " Within Naver , we are testing fast delivery centered on the 'special price warehouse' category, and it is expected that express delivery will be faster . "

SSG.com is backed by a big tree and enjoys the shade

As a comprehensive online shopping mall under the Korean snack giant Shinsegae Group , SSG.com plans to continue to add locations for logistics centers, while actively utilizing E-Mart offline stores that extend across the country for delivery .

Among E-Mart 's 144 stores, 110 are "picking and packing centers" called "PP centers. " PP centers use offline stores, where employees called "pickers" find the items ordered by customers in the store, put them in the shopping cart and pack them .

By delivering packaged goods directly from stores to nearby customers , delivery times can be greatly reduced ( this is the supermarket delivery model in China ) .

If SSG.com really relies on E-Mart 's offline stores to realize an online and offline integrated distribution model, there is no doubt that SSG.com 's product delivery speed will be greatly accelerated.

Naver has teamed up with CJ Logistics, SSG.com has teamed up with E-Mart , and Korea 11 Street has recently established a partnership with Korea Post. Under the pressure of Coupang's "rocket delivery" speed, it is expected that the delivery speed competition in Korea's online shopping industry will become more intense this year.
