Amazon shares rose 1.7%, recovering year-to-date losses

On March 28, Amazon finally brought good news. Its stock price rose by 1.7%, hitting a new high since January 4, 2022. Amazon stock also became the first large technology stock this year to recover all its losses this year.

Amazon, which lagged behind in 2021 and even saw its revenue and net profit fall 50% year-on-year in the third quarter , has now regained its long-standing title as the market leader. In early February, the company announced fourth-quarter results that were far stronger than market expectations, easing concerns about its post-COVID-19 growth prospects. On that day, its stock price recorded its largest one-day gain since 2015, and also the largest one-day increase in the market value of a stock in the U.S. market.

Industry insiders said that investors are turning back to these high-quality growth companies with strong balance sheets and market positions, and Amazon's stock price performance also reflects that consumers' willingness to spend remains strong.

Although the revenue situation has fluctuated, Amazon has not stopped the pace of supporting infrastructure construction. Starting in 2022, Amazon has made great strides into the field of logistics and distribution. In early March, Amazon announced the expansion of its "Global Logistics" (AGL) service scope to other Asian countries such as Vietnam and Thailand , providing its e-commerce retailers with affordable intercontinental shipping and air transportation services to seize the market share of freight forwarders. In order to better promote AGL services, Amazon is preparing to expand its infrastructure around the world.

It is reported that Amazon has also opened more than 350 new fulfillment centers, sorting centers, regional air hubs and distribution stations in the United States . In 2022, new logistics distribution centers invested and built by Amazon in major cities began to operate one after another. In Asia, such as Japan and Turkey, Europe, such as Germany and the United States, Oceania, such as Australia, Africa, such as Egypt, etc., plans to open new logistics distribution centers. In Germany alone , Amazon plans to open 8 new distribution and delivery locations .

Amazon will also open a new distribution center in Italy , where it already had three distribution centers last year , and will open its first sorting center near Dublin, Ireland. Previously, Amazon has opened two large operations centers and two large logistics distribution centers in Australia, and a large sorting center is about to open.
