Ramadan trees become the new favorite of UAE festivals

According to the Islamic calendar, Ramadan in 2022 is expected to be from April 2 to May 1.

 

Ramadan is one of the most important times of the year for consumers in the UAE . AdColony partnered with independent research company GlobalWebIndex to investigate the shopping behavior of UAE consumers during Ramadan. Of the respondents, 56% were male, 44% were female, and 46% were between the ages of 16 and 34.

 

The survey showed that 30% of consumers surveyed said they would shop between 12pm and 6pm. 77% of respondents said they would use smartphones to shop during Ramadan, while 67% said they would shop on apps. 47% of respondents said they would shop after Eid.

 

In addition, 54% of respondents said that the ads they see on their smartphones have a huge impact on their purchasing decisions. Among them, 67% want to see food ads, followed by clothing at 53% and home products at 44%, ranking in the top three.

 

Women's spending on cosmetics during Ramadan continues to increase, and the most purchased cosmetics are perfumes, accounting for 42%, skin care products, accounting for 35%; and hair care, accounting for 34%.

 

In addition to these conventional products, Ramadan trees have also been favored by consumers in recent years. Ramadan trees originated in the United States. In 2018, Samar Baydoun Bazzi, a resident of Michigan, wanted to create a special holiday experience for his daughter at home, so he wanted to decorate a crescent-shaped tree like a Christmas tree. Ramadan trees should have entered the UAE in 2020, and many sellers are already selling this tree.

 


It turns out that the Ramadan tree is very popular. According to interviews with local media, many families said that the UAE is a very diverse country, and Christmas trees are everywhere on the streets during Christmas. Many children from Muslim families want a Christmas tree very much, but because of religious differences, parents will not decorate the tree at home. The crescent-shaped Ramadan tree satisfies the children's wishes, and parents will also explain the meaning of the crescent to the children so that they can feel the spirit of Ramadan.
