According to the latest survey by Mirakl, an enterprise marketplace SaaS platform , more than 68% of UK shoppers believe that online marketplaces are the most convenient place to shop, rather than traditional e-commerce websites. Compared with traditional e-commerce websites, online marketplaces are more able to meet consumers' expectations for fast delivery, product quality, variety of goods and lower prices , so the e-commerce landscape has also changed.
In the survey, online marketplaces better meet their requirements than traditional e-commerce websites that can only provide products from a single retailer. In the early stages of the epidemic, the use of online marketplaces increased significantly, and their current position in the e-commerce field is also increasing.
“ The survey results show that consumers want their favorite retailers to launch online marketplaces alongside third-party sellers , ” said Adrien Nussenbaum, co-founder and co-CEO of Mirakl . “In today’s ‘always-on’ retail economy, shoppers believe that only online marketplaces can offer competitive prices, greater variety and faster shipping times. ”
According to the survey, 41% of respondents said that their online shopping was done through marketplaces, and 34% said that their use of online marketplaces has increased over the past year, despite the reopening of traditional retail. 94% of UK consumers are expected to maintain or increase their use of online marketplaces for shopping in the future .
As consumers shop online more and more frequently, e-commerce platforms account for an increasing proportion of their total spending. High-value customers who shop online at least once a week are called power shoppers, and they believe that the reason for this increase is the interaction between convenience and trust. Currently in the UK, 75% of power shoppers believe that online marketplaces are the most convenient way to shop.
In addition, the survey found that despite the impact on the supply chain, 84% of consumers still hope to receive their packages within 3-5 days or less ; 32% of consumers expect the delivery waiting time to be 1-2 days.
When shopping with third-party sellers, 73% of consumers said they would check product reviews before purchasing.
When consumers transact with retailers they trust, 44% of Brits are more likely to buy from a third-party seller, 64% say they prefer to learn about new brands over brands they already know, and 72% trust their chosen online marketplace.
According to the survey, consumers now have higher and higher requirements for online shopping. They hope to buy a variety of products in one place and have higher requirements for service quality and attitude. When sellers are planning the local market, in addition to the types and quality of goods, they should also pay attention to the delivery time and after-sales service. In order to provide consumers with a higher quality consumption experience, increase sales and increase repurchase rate. U.K. Online Marketplace |
