California floods continue, sellers need to avoid creating warehouses in Northern California in the near future

According to foreign media reports, the continuous rainfall in California has caused serious floods and mudslides. Roads have been closed, trees have been washed away, and people have fallen into panic. The state has now issued an emergency evacuation order for residents.

More than 18 million California residents were under flood warnings across much of the state, including San Francisco, Oakland, Sacramento and Fresno.

The storm is expected to hit Northern and Central California starting Monday evening local time and Southern California starting Tuesday.

It was reported that the Pajaro River levee in Monterey County, California, broke during the storm and more than 8,500 people were asked to evacuate. Some media predicted that local residents might soon find themselves trapped on "isolated islands."

"As Chairman of the Monterey County Board of Supervisors , my heart aches for the residents of Pajaro tonight," Luis Alejo, chairman of the Monterey County Board of Supervisors, wrote on Twitter. "We wanted to avoid and prevent this, but the worst happened when the Pajaro River topped out around midnight and the levees breached."

Alejo called the flooding "massive" and said the damage would take months to repair. Alejo said he has invited U.S. President Joe Biden and Gov. Gavin Newsom to visit Pajaro.

Weather forecasters predict that the rainy weather will continue for nearly a week.

By Tuesday local time, coastal areas could see an additional 3 to 6 inches of rainfall, with double-digit rainfall expected on the highest peaks of the Sierra Nevada and an additional 4 to 8 feet of snow in high elevations, which could lead to more flooding and avalanches.

Local officials warned residents in the area not to use tap water for drinking or cooking due to concerns that floodwaters could carry chemicals that could contaminate wells.

In addition to being unable to use water, many local residents have been without electricity for about a week. As of Monday morning, more than 9,500 residents across the state were still without power.

In response to this situation, many logistics service providers have reminded sellers to avoid creating warehouses in Northern California in the near future to avoid logistics delays, damage to goods, etc.

Many sellers also said that the sudden bad weather disrupted their stocking progress and that multiple orders have been delayed. Amazon has not yet stated whether it will provide assistance to the affected sellers.
