With annual sales of $500,000, Amazon sellers are discouraged by platform policies

Amazon's return policy is very friendly to buyers. Although it protects the rights of consumers to a great extent, there are many "buyers" who take advantage of loopholes in the platform to commit fraud . The "generous" return policy has also been complained by sellers. Recently, a seller who switched from eBay regretted his decision and shared his experience on the Amazon forum.

The seller had been troubled by fraudulent buyers, so he switched from eBay to Amazon to reduce this problem, but found that Amazon had a bigger loophole. The seller said that when buyers claimed that they had never received the product or asked for a refund, the seller would win the case on the eBay platform when he produced evidence to appeal, but the result was not certain for Amazon.

The seller said that he recently sold a product for $900, but the buyer requested a return on the grounds that he "no longer needed it." According to Amazon's return policy, the seller could only accept this request, but the buyer did not return the product and opened an AtoZ claim, claiming that "the product was different from the one ordered."

The seller explained the situation to Seller Support and was advised to file an appeal, but because the seller had a case, the appeal was rejected. In this case, the seller wanted to claim through "SAFE-T", but was told that "Orders with AtoZ claims are not eligible for claims (AtoZ claims can be appealed)".

After contacting UPS, the seller learned that the package was not returned, and seller support also stated that "most AtoZ claims grant buyers the right to obtain their satisfaction." The seller's claim to UPS was also rejected because Amazon has restricted the label and can only submit claims to Amazon. In the complaint email from Amazon, the seller was told that " we recommend that you contact your courier directly ."

According to the seller, he generated $500,000 in sales in 2021 and planned to double his sales this year. Amazon was also part of the plan, but now he is not sure whether it can be achieved. Amazon did not support this malicious claim, which made him feel helpless and thought it was time to return to eBay again .

Amazon's return policy follows the customer-first principle, but it has damaged the interests of sellers to a certain extent. If this continues, it will only discourage more and more sellers.
