Sales surged 245%! Anti-hair loss products are hot in Korea

It is reported that the domestic market for hair loss-related products in South Korea has grown to about 4 trillion won, and the demand for hair loss management products among young people is increasing.

 

On online shopping mall Gmarket, the number of hair loss care products requested by male consumers surged by 245% .

 

On the 4th of last month , Korean market research company " Embrain Trend Monitor " conducted a questionnaire survey on 750 men in their 20s to 40s. The results showed that 46% of the respondents were concerned about their hair loss problems .

 

Looking at the age breakdown , 51.2% of people in their 40s are concerned about hair loss, while 48% and 38.8% of people in their 30s and 20s are concerned about hair loss, respectively .

 

As the population suffering from hair loss increases, the demand for hair loss management products among the younger generation is also growing.

 

From the 1st of last month to the 22nd of this month, sales of CJ oliveyoung hair care products that have the function of alleviating hair loss increased by 19% compared with the same period last year, especially sales to young consumers in their 20s and 30s increased by 27%.

 

53% of the respondents said they have been managing hair loss. In terms of management methods, using shampoo to alleviate hair loss accounted for the largest proportion, at 39.2%.

 

Olive Young's relevant person in charge said: "The hair loss market used to be mainly concentrated in middle-aged men, but now the younger generation is rapidly entering. Hair loss relief shampoos with functions such as strengthening the scalp and root nutrition supply are very popular."

 

An official in the distribution industry said : "As the news that hair loss can be alleviated through management spreads, the younger generation has begun to pay attention to such topics."

 

In addition, many people go to the hospital for hair loss. The Korean Hair Society analyzed the statistics of the Health Insurance Review and Evaluation Service and found that in 2019, there were 230,000 patients who went to the hospital for treatment for hair loss , of which 44% were people in their 20s and 30s. According to medical estimates, the potential population of people suffering from hair loss in Korea is as high as 10 million.

 

The number of people suffering from hair loss in South Korea is increasing, and people have a high demand for high-quality products. The hair loss market is expected to grow further. Sellers need to find high-quality products with high cost performance and liquidity, meet the needs of the vast majority of consumer groups, and create a valuable consumer experience for them, so as to improve the core competitiveness of the store.
