Cross-border e-commerce is growing rapidly around the world. Cainiao helps more Chinese cross-border merchants to speed up logistics

On September 17, at the first China (Shenzhen) Cross-border E-commerce Exhibition (CCBEC), in order to help more Chinese merchants go overseas, Zhang Wenxin, head of Cainiao's global parcel network open business, announced that he would launch the "Global Within Days" merchant support plan to help Chinese merchants deliver cross-border packages to overseas consumers within a specified time.

The plan mainly includes the following three aspects: First, Cainiao will continue to build a global parcel network and further optimize logistics products and logistics routes. For example, products such as 10-day delivery for US$5 and 20-day delivery for US$2 will cover more countries, and try to open high-quality routes to external merchants; second, provide corresponding subsidies for some products and routes; finally, continue to use innovative technologies such as smart order consolidation to help merchants speed up parcel delivery.

"Since last year, especially after the $5 10-day delivery product covered more countries this year, we have received inquiries from external merchants whether they can use Cainiao's cross-border logistics products. After preparation and testing, we tried to launch external business and open some high-quality routes to various types of merchants." Zhang Wenxin introduced at the event that Cainiao hopes to help merchants achieve better sales and more profits this year through extremely cost-effective logistics services, especially during peak season promotions such as Double Eleven and Thanksgiving.

In June this year , Xiong Wei, assistant to the president of Cainiao and general manager of the export logistics division, mentioned at the "2021 Global Smart Logistics Summit" that the peak processing capacity of Cainiao's domestic distribution center has exceeded 10 million orders, and its cross-border parcel network business covers more than 200 cities across the country. It has established more than 50 collection warehouses in important cities across the country, and the layout of the preferred warehouse network in North China, East China, South China, and Hong Kong has also been completed. A transfer network has been formed between the preferred warehouses to automatically help merchants match the best trunk logistics, save logistics costs, and improve fulfillment time.

Cainiao's global parcel network has been active this year, adding new air, sea, and road routes, such as the Zhengzhou -Budapest direct cargo route, the China-South Korea 5-Da cross-border shipping line, and the China-Europe highway departing from Horgos, but also promoting self-pickup services in Spain, France, Poland and other countries. It is expected that by the end of this year, more than 30,000 self-pickup points and self-pickup cabinets will be deployed overseas.

In addition to cross-border parcel services, Cainiao combines domestic preferred warehouses, global overseas warehouses and international logistics capabilities to provide cross-border merchants with diversified export supply chain solutions. According to previous reports, Cainiao has more than 30 overseas warehouses around the world, operating overseas warehouses with an area of more than one million square meters. In Europe alone, there are more than 100,000 square meters of export overseas warehouses, including Belgium, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Poland, Spain and other countries, covering the 24 EU countries and the entire United Kingdom. The official warehouse can be delivered in the country within 3 days and in Europe within 7 days, and can handle 100,000 orders per day.

McKinsey data predicts that in the next five years, the compound annual growth rate of global retail e-commerce sales will exceed 8.1%, and even exceed 20% in some regions. The e-commerce super cycle has arrived, with independent stations accounting for 40% of the market share.

On July 2, 2021, the General Office of the State Council issued an opinion on accelerating the development of new formats and models of foreign trade, pointing out that new formats and models are the vital force for the development of my country's foreign trade and an important trend in the development of international trade. At a meeting of the State Council Information Office in July, it was mentioned that according to estimates, the number of domestic national independent stations has reached about 200,000.

"In recent years, international trade has shown significant digitalization, networking, and intelligence. We also hope to use more digital logistics technologies to help Chinese products go overseas and enhance the competitiveness of Chinese manufacturing and Chinese brands. On the one hand, it will allow domestic companies, especially small and medium-sized enterprises, to participate in international trade at a lower cost. On the other hand, we will continue to build China's logistics network overseas, optimize it according to local conditions, and help businesses serve more overseas consumers . " Xiong Wei told reporters.

In March 2021, the average daily cross-border parcel volume of Cainiao's global parcel network exceeded 5 million pieces, continuing to rank among the top four in the world. Among them, the "5 US dollars in 10 days" logistics product has covered European countries such as Spain, France, the Netherlands, Belgium, the United Kingdom, Germany, Portugal, etc., and is expected to cover 20 countries around the world this year, allowing more merchants to deliver to the world with the money for a cup of coffee.
