Three injuries were caused and nearly 140,000 products were recalled

Those who pay attention to the CPSC will know that product recalls are common, with a wave of cases every few days, and the categories involved are also diverse. Recently, another batch of jar candles were recalled.

The recalled candles are in decorative glass containers with metal lids. They come in two scents: Frosted Forest and Vanilla Cookies. The brand label is printed on the bottom.

The product is sold through both offline and online channels. The offline channels are distributed in stores of all sizes in various regions of the United States, and the online channels are mainly through the Costco e-commerce platform. The sales period is from August to September 2021, and the price is about US$17.

The recall is due to the risk of fire hazard as the glass jars can break or crack when the candles are burning . 138 reports of broken or cracked jar candles have been received , including three cases of injuries caused by broken bottles.

The number of products involved in this recall is 139,500. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recommends that consumers should stop using them immediately and contact the seller to return them for a full refund.

For the sake of refinement and fashion, the old-fashioned candles can no longer keep up with the aesthetic needs of today's society. Candles are mostly packaged in cans or glass, with various spices or colors added. Lighting one at night creates a sense of atmosphere. However, if the temperature of a sealed glass jar is too high and the glass bottle is not very strong, it will easily explode and break. Once this happens, consumers are at risk of being injured by the explosion.

Compared with other materials, this type of glass jar product has greater risks. In addition to the high temperature problem in the above case, cracking and cutting are the most important hidden dangers. If sellers have related products, they should pay more attention to quality. If there is an unexpected report, the recall will not only cause certain losses to the seller, but also cause irreversible personal injuries.

Safety is no small matter, and many potential risks are easily overlooked. No matter what category you are in, sellers must put product quality first.
