According to foreign media reports, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection issued a statement saying that they seized 57,607 counterfeit goods in a container from China at the Port of Los Angeles . These included clothing, shoes, brand bags and aphrodisiacs, all of which were counterfeit. If these items were calculated according to the price of genuine products, the estimated market value would be as high as 12.7 million U.S. dollars.
Among them, there were more than 40,000 counterfeit Cialis aphrodisiac pills and 10,117 counterfeit clothing and shoes. The counterfeit brands included internationally renowned brands such as Dior, Gucci, LV, Chanel, Nike Air and Versace.
According to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, these counterfeit goods will be sold on illegal underground websites after arriving in the United States, deceiving consumers into thinking they have bought authentic brand-name products at a greatly discounted price.
A spokesperson for the U.S. Customs and Border Protection said that once these products enter the U.S. market, they may threaten the health and safety of consumers, seriously disrupt market order, and harm the competitiveness of U.S. companies.
It is reported that the products seized by Customs will be handed over to the Illegal Drug and Counterfeit Unit (IPCU) of the Los Angeles Police Department's Commercial Crime Division , which will conduct further investigation.
Customs and Border Protection recommends that consumers purchase products directly from brand stores or official channels authorized by the brand. When shopping online, they can also verify the seller’s contact information or refer to the anti-counterfeiting awareness guide provided by Customs and Border Protection to avoid being deceived.
Here, the editor would like to advise all sellers that even for products exported overseas, they must ensure that the products are compliant and legal. Once customs finds counterfeit and pirated products, they will generally detain or destroy them. Especially nowadays, the awareness of protecting culture and intellectual property rights in many countries is gradually increasing. Customs inspections will be more stringent, especially for luxury goods. Do not take risks and cause serious losses for temporary personal gain.
