BEST launches global 34-country air parcel business in Thailand to help boost local economy

Following Thailand's approval of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) in March, BEST Inc. announced on April 14 that it would launch air parcel delivery services from Thailand to 34 countries around the world, providing one-stop operations on routes including Thailand-China, Thailand-Malaysia, Thailand-Singapore, and Thailand-Europe and the United States.

That morning, a truck loaded with latex pillows, beauty products, health products, and small packages of dried fruit departed from Best's Bangkok cross-border warehouse and unloaded and cleared customs after arriving at Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi International Airport. The goods will be sent to the UK, the US, and Canada on different flights and are expected to enter the country the next day. In the future, Best will also send more products made in Thailand to Asia, North America, South America, Europe, Australia, and Africa to provide guarantees for Thailand's resumption of work and production and make positive contributions to promoting local economic development.

As a member of ASEAN and one of the founding countries, Thailand has accumulated many advantages in recent years in terms of strategic location, investment policy, cost-effectiveness, business environment, high-tech labor, supply chain and infrastructure. In March this year, Thailand approved RCEP, deeply connecting its development strategy with the Belt and Road Initiative and RCEP, and enhancing the level of economic, trade, investment and production capacity cooperation on a global scale.

BEST's global air parcel business, centered in Thailand, covers 34 countries including China, the United States, Britain, Germany, Australia, Russia, Japan, and South Africa. In addition to air parcels, the Thailand-China and Thailand-Malaysia lines also provide cross-border land parcel services. This is another new exploration of Best to seize the historical opportunity and export China's logistics solutions since it launched its express delivery business covering the entire territory of Thailand and launched its Thailand-China cross-border delivery business in 2019.

At present, Best's cross-border team in Thailand has cooperated with many ports in China to provide customers with customs clearance through multiple channels of sea, land and air. With a high-standard supply chain warehouse of 10,000 square meters in Bangkok, it has formed a one-stop service of "logistics-warehousing-customs clearance-distribution". All orders are "one order to the end" and logistics can be tracked in real time. Best's own warehouse management system is connected with multiple mainstream e-commerce platforms and can be connected with the merchant's ERP system. It has functions such as self-service ordering, automatic calculation of exchange rates and tariffs, and remote monitoring of goods.

Mr. Mao, who runs a Thai dried fruit business on Tmall International, said that he used to need to cooperate with three companies to go through customs clearance, overseas warehouses, and domestic express delivery, which was not only time-consuming and laborious, but also generated various risks due to several turnovers. Since cooperating with Best in early 2021, "receiving, warehouse management, and transshipment are all done by the same company, and upstream and downstream operating costs have been reduced by 15%."

It is reported that the peak daily volume of Best Express from Thailand to China has reached 7,000 orders, and the peak daily volume of the "drop shipping" business of the Bangkok overseas warehouse has reached 8,000 orders. In the future, Best's mature experience in the Thailand-China route will be replicated on the Thailand-Malaysia, Thailand-Singapore, Thailand-Europe and the United States routes, providing stable and efficient "one-stop" cross-border logistics and related import and export business services for cross-border e-commerce, suppliers, and end customers.
