Pinterest adds live streaming channel to expand social e-commerce layout

Recently, Pinterest announced the launch of the Pinterest TV channel . The channel focuses on food, home, fashion, beauty, DIY and other fields , supports creators to live broadcast videos, and inserts shopping links.

Starting from November 8, creators will go online on Pinterest TV and start live broadcasts. Users only need to click the TV icon in the upper left corner of the Pinterest application to view the live broadcast, interact with creators, ask questions through chat and get answers in real time.

To support the creative process , Pinterest has launched a virtual studio where producers will work with creators to help them develop content and provide technical support so they can go online more easily.

In fact, before Pinterest TV , the company also launched the Idea Pins feature. This feature provides creators with a way to create videos that combine music, videos and other interactive elements. It is understood that the maximum length of Idea Pin videos is 60 seconds.

From this perspective, Pinterest 's Idea Pins and Tik Tok's short video production are somewhat similar, but the difference is that Pinterest 's short videos contain detailed pages where users can find related content, such as ingredient lists and recipe instructions, or a list of operating instructions for handicraft projects.

To encourage creators to make videos, Pinterest plans to invest $20 million in creator rewards and allow them to insert product links in their videos. This way, creators can earn commissions through affiliate links and work with brands on sponsored content.

However, the current in-app purchase path of Pinterest is not as simple as other platforms, where you can click on a link to enter the purchase page of the relevant product. In Pinterest, users click on the link to enter the Pinterest page of the relevant product, and users need to click again to visit the retailer's website to complete the order.

Although the current Idea Pins are not perfect, Pinterest is actively embracing social e-commerce, judging from its layout of video shopping and live shopping. In fact, in addition to Pinterest, Tik Tok and Instagram are also rushing into this track.
