For sellers on Amazon, product compliance is a big worry. As a world-renowned cross-border e-commerce company, Amazon has a wide range of products, including toys and electronic products, disinfectants, cosmetics and food. And Amazon has more than a dozen sites around the world. However, the product safety regulations of each destination country are updated from time to time, and each site has different audit requirements for the compliance of different categories of goods. If you are not careful, the seller will be removed from the shelves because of non-compliance of the product. This happens every day.
Recently, sellers have received good news. Amazon announced the launch of a new feature "Compliance Reference" on the Amazon Seller Platform.
According to Amazon, this feature can help sellers learn and understand Amazon's product compliance policies in the target market, and provide compliance solutions with information on officially recognized compliance service providers.
After logging into the seller platform, sellers only need to click Inventory > Add New Product > Compliance Reference to enter the corresponding interface, enter keywords or HS codes, and obtain relevant requirements for product compliance, hazardous goods compliance, export trade compliance, and import trade compliance.
In addition to the query service, the "Compliance Reference" function also provides sellers with a number of domestic and international compliance service providers to choose from.
Currently, this feature is only available on Amazon US, but it supports inquiries on relevant compliance policies and service providers for destinations in the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Spain, and Italy. Registered sellers can use it for free.
In fact, when it comes to this compliance service, I believe many sellers will not be unfamiliar with it. At the 2020 Amazon Global Selling Cross-border Online Summit, Amazon released a seller compliance system, E-Commerce Compliance Total Solution (ECTS), which is a one-stop product compliance solution for Chinese sellers.
The Seller Compliance System and the "Compliance Reference" have similar functions. However, if sellers want to use the Seller Compliance System, they must first register an ECTS account, and only local compliance service providers can be selected, but the "Compliance Reference" links to domestic and foreign service providers, and can be used by logging in to the seller platform.
Some sellers have also tried to use the new feature "Compliance Reference" and gave some feedback. Some sellers said that searching for the words "paraquat, ethyl alcohol, weed killer, RoundUp, copper naphthenate, arsenic, lead" did not pop up any content. Some sellers also complained that they did not see any compliance lists or suggestions for food in this new interface .
The newly launched feature may have some shortcomings. Amazon also said that it will continue to launch more compliance reference content for more product types based on sellers’ needs, and will launch this new feature on other sites. Amazon New Features |
