Alibaba International Station's cross-border e-commerce talent program has helped 20,000 graduates find jobs

Alibaba International Station recently upgraded its "Cross-border E-commerce Talent Training Program for Colleges and Universities", and will work with 2,000 colleges and universities to train 1 million cross-border e-commerce talents. The latest data shows that nearly 20,000 college graduates have found employment through this program.

This year, the total number of graduates from regular colleges and universities nationwide is 9.09 million, a record high. On the other hand, China's foreign trade is growing strongly, and foreign trade companies have a strong demand for professional talents.

According to the General Administration of Customs, China's foreign trade imports and exports have achieved year-on-year growth for 13 consecutive months, and the growth rate of imports and exports in the first half of this year reached 22.8% compared with the same period in 2019. According to the "New Foreign Trade Index" of the cross-border e-commerce B2B platform Alibaba International Station , the transaction volume of the platform has maintained a three-digit growth for consecutive months, with a year-on-year increase of 111% in the first half of this year.

According to a survey conducted by Tsinghua University's National Service Outsourcing Human Resources Research Institute, more than 70% of domestic cross-border e-commerce companies reported that the biggest bottleneck restricting their development is the lack of professional talent. The above-mentioned "New Foreign Trade Index" also shows that China's foreign trade professional talent gap exceeds 6.1 million, especially in data-based operations, customer operations, product selection analysis and marketing promotion. Companies are facing the pain points of limited offline talent options, low online talent screening efficiency and high employee turnover.

"The most critical thing is that the industry has always lacked certification standards for foreign trade professionals." Yao Yuan, head of the talent project of Alibaba International Station, said that last year the Ministry of Education confirmed the International Station as a training and evaluation organization for cross-border e-commerce B2B data operation talents, and the expert group of Tsinghua University and other universities designed a cross-border e-commerce talent training system and stratification standards. In May this year, Tsinghua University and the International Station issued the "Cross-border E-commerce B2B Data Operation Professional Skills Standards", which is also the first cross-border e-commerce talent standard certified by the Ministry of Education.

It is understood that the cross-border e-commerce university talent plan released by the International Station is an upgrade of the above-mentioned talent certification project. It will select professional colleges, jointly build a training system, authoritative assessment and certification, accurately recommend employment, and continuously drive growth. It will open online courses, exercise systems, Alibaba International Station platform training simulation software, platform official certification and employment services in all aspects for free.

Data shows that 547 colleges and universities have joined the talent program; nearly 20,000 college graduates have obtained certificates through training and examinations and have successfully found jobs, and more than 50% of them received their first order of more than $10,000 after joining the company. Zhejiang Finance Vocational College also co-founded the first digital trade class with the International Station, and the pass rate of the cross-border e-commerce talent certification exam in this class reached 96%; by comparison, it was found that the average monthly salary of students who had not yet obtained the certificate during the internship period was 3,633 yuan, while the average monthly salary of those who obtained the certificate was 5,177 yuan, 1,544 yuan higher.

Gong Ziyi, the head of a foreign trade garment factory in Yiwu, told reporters that the shortest time she spent recruiting was only five minutes, because the applicant had a talent certificate from an international station. Gong Ziyi was born in 1997. This young entrepreneur hopes to focus on improving products.

"The purpose of the platform is to solve the most difficult part of cross-border B2B, allowing merchants to focus on products and enhance their own value. We will continue to invest heavily in the construction of cross-border e-commerce infrastructure to help small and medium-sized enterprises develop towards high-quality development." said Zhang Kuo, vice president of Alibaba Group and general manager of the International Station.
