Recently, Jungle Scout 's 2021 Q3 Consumer Trends Report was released. The report surveyed 1,100 American consumers on their consumption habits and behaviors.
According to the report, Amazon remains the top choice for consumers when it comes to buying products online, with 65% of people searching for products on Amazon, followed closely by other consumer engines such as Google and Bing, which account for 47%.
As social e-commerce grows, in addition to popular online shopping channels such as Amazon and Walmart, consumers will also search for shopping on platforms such as Facebook, Instagram , and TikTok . Survey data shows that 30% will shop on Facebook , while Instagram and TikTok account for 21% and 13% respectively .
In addition, the social activities of brands and merchants, as well as the brand's sense of social responsibility, have also become factors that influence whether consumers will purchase from the brand.
Among the respondents, employee treatment ( 63%), policy transparency (60%), local procurement (56%) and environmentally friendly brands (56%) are all reasons they consider whether to consume.
Online shopping has become a normal shopping habit for consumers around the world. As consumers' online consumption habits are gradually forming, shopping characteristics such as experiential shopping space, fragmented shopping time, mobile shopping methods, and social information dissemination are gradually emerging . For sellers, it is particularly important to understand consumer needs and trends in a timely manner.
Although Amazon is known as the "Everything Store", most consumers will choose Amazon as their first choice for shopping searches. However, emerging social e-commerce platforms such as Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, Pinterest, and Tik Tok are also important channels for attracting customers.
Affected by the epidemic, using mobile phones to browse social platforms during the period of staying at home has become a daily routine. Attracting traffic through advertising or link jumps on social platforms is also a way for businesses to increase exposure. Especially for young consumers aged 18-24, 44% of them will consume through Instagram , while Facebook and TikTok are equally matched, accounting for 35% and 33% respectively . Therefore, this traffic market of social e-commerce platforms has also become a "hot commodity" coveted by businesses.
Greg Mercer, founder and CEO of Jungle Scout, also said: “Brands continue to gain visibility and influence buyer behavior on new channels and online platforms. Advertising, social media campaigns and collaboration with influencers are more effective than ever before.” Social Media Jungle Scout |
