According to E-Commerce News, Europe's e-commerce market has always maintained its top position in the world. However, relevant data shows that over the past year, the average online spending of Danish shoppers has topped the list of European countries.
As in previous years, Germany and the UK remain the strongest e-commerce markets in Europe. The purchase amount in these two markets is relatively high, the e-commerce share is high, and the population is large. Therefore, most cross-border sellers think of Germany and the UK first when considering the European market. Data shows that in the past year, 62 million consumers in Germany made online purchases, while 49 million in the UK.
It is understood that in the UK, at least 95% of customers choose to shop online, with an estimated average annual spending of 2,316 euros per person. Sweden follows closely behind, with 96% of the population choosing to shop online, with an average annual spending of 1,932 euros per person.
But surprisingly, although Denmark has fewer consumers who choose to shop online compared to other countries, its average annual per capita spending reaches 2,916 euros, ranking first among European countries.
The report shows that the main reasons are its small land area and more efficient transportation. In addition, the country's Internet penetration rate is 99%, which is higher than the European average.
Over the past year, due to the strict lockdown of the epidemic, the online consumption behavior of Danes has also changed. According to a survey, 9 out of 10 Danes said that e-commerce has brought great convenience to their lives during the epidemic. At the same time, nearly half of the country's consumers have tried new shopping methods, and even 27% of Danish pensioners choose to receive e-commerce packages without contact. It can be seen that the epidemic has had an impact on consumers in various markets, and the convenience of the e-commerce market has been recognized by most consumers. As the epidemic eases, the growth rate of the global e-commerce market has slightly declined this year, but the online consumption habits formed by shoppers are difficult to return to before the epidemic.
