Spain's online revenue grew against the trend in the first quarter, with digital traffic up 14%

Recently, Salesforce released the global shopping index research report for the first quarter of 2022.

Data shows that global online revenue in the first quarter of this year fell 3% compared with the same period last year, hitting a nine-year low.

However, Spain's sales revenue grew against the trend in the first quarter, up 6% compared with the same period last year, making it the only country in Europe to maintain growth in online revenue in the first quarter.

At the same time, digital traffic in Spain also maintained an upward trend in the first quarter of this year, with an increase of 14%. The most obvious increase was in mobile phone traffic, which increased by 14%, followed by computers, which increased by 9%.

While digital traffic in Spain continues to grow, it is declining globally.

Global digital traffic fell by 2% in the first quarter, with mobile phone traffic also falling by 2%, while desktop traffic remained unchanged.

However, it is worth noting that although Spain's online revenue continues to grow, the overall consumption level is still lower than the global consumption level.

Data shows that in the first quarter of this year, the value of each online shopping order in Spain was about 82.36 US dollars, while the value of each order globally was 96.19 US dollars. This shows that Spanish online consumers prefer high-quality and low-priced goods when shopping.

Not only that, the product conversion rate of online goods in Spain is also lower than the global average. The global average is 2.1%, and Spain is only 1.2%. However, Spain's online product conversion rate is not the lowest. Italy's online product conversion rate is only 1%, while Latin America's is only 0.9%.

But overall, Spain is still the country with the greatest potential in the European e-commerce market . Since the outbreak of the epidemic, Spanish consumers are more inclined to buy cheaper goods , so more Spanish consumers have turned from shopping in physical stores to online shopping.

According to statistics, 16.5 million consumers in Spain shop online every year . The current e-commerce penetration rate in Spain is 54.5% , and e-commerce sales have reached 14.7 billion euros .

In recent years, Spain's e-commerce market has developed rapidly. According to Statista's forecast, the expected revenue of Spain's e-commerce market will grow at an average annual growth rate of 7.6% , and the market capacity is expected to reach US$25.824 billion in 2024 .

Many cross-border sellers have seen the development potential of the Spanish e-commerce market and started to make plans in advance.
