The best-selling air fryer is urgently recalled!

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission ( CPSC) has announced a recall of Insignia brand air fryers and air fryer ovens because these products can overheat during use, posing a risk of fire and burns.

It is understood that the recalled products were sold on Best Buy, eBay, and Google platforms from November 2018 to February 2022, with a price range of US$30-150. The product models are: NS-AF32DBK9, NS-AF32MBK9, NS-AF50MBK9, NS-AF53DSS0, NS-AF53MSS0, NS-AF55DBK9, NS-AFO6DBK1, and NS-AFO6DSS1. The product model can be found on the label below the Insignia brand name on the bottom of the device.

Best Buy has received more than 100 reports of the air fryer catching fire, burning or melting, including seven reports of property damage and two reports of injuries, including a child's leg injury.

At present, the number of products under emergency recall has reached 772,000 units. Consumers who have purchased the product can return the product to Best Buy and receive a full refund. At the same time, Best Buy is actively contacting all buyers and providing prepaid shipping boxes with labels.

In recent years , air fryers with the selling point of "oil-free cooking" have become very popular. Market Research reports that by 2027, the global air fryer market is expected to reach US$1.3 billion , and the market continues to grow.

The recalled air fryer products had very good sales, with approximately 635,000 units sold in the United States and approximately 137,000 units sold in Canada, but product safety issues cannot be ignored.

Recently, a number of products sold on overseas e-commerce platforms have been recalled, including infant playpens, portable heaters, luminous pillows, shower toys, etc., and the reasons for the recalls are all related to product safety issues.

Foreign regulatory agencies have very strict audits of daily necessities. Once safety hazards are discovered, they will be immediately recalled and removed from the shelves, and in serious cases, legal liability will be pursued.

During the operation process, sellers must ensure that their products meet safety requirements, because once a product is recalled, it will cause serious consequences, which will not only damage the brand reputation but also greatly reduce the platform's sales.
