Amazon app downloads in India approach 500 million

According to foreign media reports, Amazon recently announced that its application has been downloaded nearly 500 million times in India. Data shows that 75% of Indian Internet users have installed this online shopping software on their mobile devices , including applications such as Amazon.in Shopping and Prime Video .

In India , with the fierce development of local e-commerce platforms such as Flipkart, JioMart, and Tata , Amazon, an "outsider", can still firmly occupy a large part of the Indian market. An earlier analysis report stated that the scale of India's e-commerce market will increase from the current US$45-50 billion to US$350 billion in 2030, and its development potential should not be underestimated .

Kishore Thota, marketing director of Amazon India , said that more than 86% of new customers on Amazon.in come from second-tier and lower-tier regions. In the past two years, the number of Amazon users has seen a high double-digit growth. So far, hundreds of millions of Indian consumers are looking for various needs on Amazon.in, including shopping, paying bills, remittances, buying air tickets, restaurant orders, leisure and entertainment, etc.

It is reported that the current online consumption scale in India's second-tier and third-tier cities and rural areas is booming, and more and more consumers in these areas are beginning to try online shopping. Amazon India 's goal is to expand its services to these potential areas in India, covering the entire country and taking the lead in occupying the market position in these areas .

In order to occupy a larger share of the Indian e-commerce market, Amazon has also been constantly adjusting according to market developments and changes . Since the launch of the Indian site, Amazon has made changes to the application access interface and user interaction channels to suit local consumers , making it easier for users to search for products. At the same time , new tools have been introduced in interactive channels such as video, voice and regional languages, such as adding multiple Indian languages such as Kannada and Telugu . In addition, a voice ordering service has been launched in India, which supports consumers to search for products and track orders in Hindi or English.

It is understood that Amazon is entering the live streaming e-commerce market. In 2021, it held many live streaming events during major promotions such as Prime Day, Raksha Bandhan and The Great Indian Festival (GIF) to provide customers with products and offers in the beauty, fashion and home decoration categories.
