Amazon issued another announcement! German sellers need to ensure EPR compliance

Recently, Amazon Europe announced that it has launched the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) Amazon Seller Central Partner Network to help sellers comply with German EPR packaging laws by June 30, 2022 and electrical and electronic equipment (EEE) by December 31, 2022 .

EPR is an environmental policy that requires producers to take responsibility for the entire life cycle of the products they place on the market , from product design to the end of their life cycle (including waste collection and treatment) .

The announcement stated that if sellers on Amazon Germany are unable to prove their compliance with EPR by June 30, 2022 , Amazon will legally suspend the sellers’ non-compliant listings under the EPR product category .

The EPR Amazon Seller Central Partner Network is a group of service providers audited by Amazon that can help sellers prepare EPR registration applications and obtain the LUCID registration number and EEE registration number required by sellers to prove the compliance of Amazon sellers' products .

To contact one of Amazon 's service providers, visit the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) Service Provider Network .

If the seller has registered the EPR German packaging (LUCID registration number), please submit it in the seller center. The Amazon platform will promptly notify the seller when the German EEE registration number can be submitted .

If the seller cannot prove to Amazon that they meet the EPR requirements, Amazon will suspend the seller's non-compliant products listed under the ERP product category.

Regarding packaging: All products from July 1, 2022, including primary packaging (product packaging) and secondary packaging (delivery packaging)

Electrical and electronic equipment (EEE): All goods that are electrical and electronic equipment from January 1, 2023

According to policy requirements, sellers are required to provide the following information when registering for the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR): business license, store information, product information, product sales quantity, and a scanned copy of the VAT number.

Sellers on Amazon-related sites must be aware of the platform requirements in a timely manner and ensure the compliance of the store product EPR as soon as possible within the specified period to avoid losses to the store.
