Recently, Paddington Bear has become popular all over the UK again!
Paddington Bear sparked widespread discussion among the British people after he had afternoon tea with the Queen and served her marmalade sandwiches on the last day of her Platinum Jubilee celebrations .
Data shows that online searches for Paddington Bear on John Lewis.com have increased by nearly 2,000%, and sales of Paddington Bear plush toys have also increased by 178%.
Searching for "Paddington Bear" on Google Trend found that the search volume for this keyword began to surge at midnight on June 5, and reached its peak at 5 a.m. on June 5 and 4 p.m. on June 6. The regions with the highest search volume were England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
On the Amazon platform, Paddington Bear plush toy products also ushered in a sales boom, and many stores showed that their stocks were running out.
Paddington isn't the only product that's been in high demand recently, as the John Lewis Partnership also revealed searches for marmalade recipes on the Waitrose website have increased by 46%.
In the past few years, jam has not been very popular in the UK. The Platinum Jubilee celebration of Paddington Bear also boosted the sales of jam-related products.
Britons also bought lots of alcohol to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee. Grocery chain Waitrose Ltd said Pimm's was its biggest selling line last week ahead of the celebrations, with sales of the quintessential British gin up 97 percent. It is also the cocktail of choice at the Wimbledon tennis championships, with more than 300,000 glasses served to spectators each year .
Meanwhile, sales of the £40 Buckingham Palace Gin, made with botanicals carefully selected from the royal palace, are also very strong .
Sales of many food items also saw growth, with nostalgic Swiss rolls up 130 per cent , and scones, cream and jam also seeing strong demand.
According to research data from VoucherCodes.co.uk, from June 2 to June 5, the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations drove a £3.47 billion increase in UK retail sales.
During the four-day celebrations , Britons spent £2.25 billion on food and drink alone , with sales of decorations and Platinum Jubilee memorabilia reaching £ 610 million.
It can be seen that the consumption power of the British market is unquestionable. Although many consumers have been forced to cut spending due to inflation in recent months, sellers are facing severe challenges. However, as long as they adapt to market demand and make product layout, sales will inevitably increase. UK e-commerce market Hot Categories |
