Recently, the Legal Daily reported a news that a former employee in Shenzhen tampered with the company's account information, causing serious losses, and has now been criminally detained.

 

Former employee deleted company products, causing a loss of 2 million

 

On January 25 , the Huangtian Police Station of the Bao'an Branch of the Shenzhen Public Security Bureau received a report from a person in charge of a technology company saying that the company's online store had been maliciously deleted and prices tampered with , with the estimated loss exceeding 2 million yuan. The police station quickly launched an investigation.

 

The company mainly sells electronic products such as headphones , which are sold in overseas online stores. On January 23 , the employee in charge of operating the store discovered that the payment account, store password and other information of the overseas online store had been changed , and immediately reported it to the management.

 

With the assistance of the Internet Police Brigade, the police station found that someone had logged into the online store operated by the company on January 24, and the login address was a rental house in Longhua District. After further investigation, the police determined that the suspect was Tan, an employee who had worked at the company.

 

Tan joined the company in March 2017 and was fired due to a conflict with a colleague. In March 2018, Tan resigned from the company, but suffered losses while operating the online store. After a series of setbacks, he became resentful of his former employer.

 

When Tan was employed, the company gave him an internal email account and password , which he did not change after leaving the company. Tan accidentally logged in and found the IP address of the company's overseas online store . After that, he logged in to the IP address at home , entered the overseas online store operated by the company, changed the prices of the products in the online store , deleted some products, changed the backend login password, and changed the company's payment account to another account.

 

 

On February 2, the police arrested Tan. Currently, Tan is under criminal detention by Baoan police in accordance with the law on suspicion of illegally controlling computer information systems.

 

What are the incentives for employees to quit and retaliate against the company?

 

Such examples are not uncommon, but not every company can seek justice like the seller mentioned above and truly punish employees who maliciously attack them.

 

Previously, there was a hot post on the industry forum about a former employee who messed up the company after leaving. The poster said that a former employee left the company nearly a month after joining the company, and was found to have done some small things that violated professional ethics. Then the account he was responsible for was maliciously attacked. The employee was also selling the company's products (self-developed products with patents) and posted the company's account product information on FB, saying that no reviews were required and a full refund would be given, etc. The account was in trouble. However, due to the lack of direct evidence, it was difficult to prove, and the operator who took over was at a loss.

 

As soon as the news came out, it sparked a heated discussion, and onlookers had two main voices:

 

1. It is very likely that her boss did something very excessive to her. Who in their right mind would do something that would ruin their future?

2. Is it confirmed that you have been employed for one month? Then you are here to steal our products. You should take legal action.

 

Combining their own work experiences and the empathy of workers, many people feel sorry for this "former employee", believing that if the company had not been at fault and he had not been forced into this extreme behavior, he would not have done anything; another group of people believe that the employee had only been employed for a short time and was absent-minded at work, and that he suddenly left without handing over his work. His motives were suspicious, and he should be held accountable.

An operator said: “Before I left, the company wanted to deduct 600 yuan from me. I was very tough and said I knew all the company’s store links. If you still insisted on deducting money, I would bear the consequences myself and there was no room for negotiation. Only later did they pay me the full salary.” This resonated with many operators.

 

When faced with an unethical boss, there are many operators who want to expose his products as soon as possible. However, considering their own careers and the fact that they do not want to do evil, very few people actually take action, unless they can no longer tolerate it.

One seller said he was stabbed in the back by a former employee: "My product was copied by a former employee who just resigned from the company. Not only did he copy my product, he also built the same product himself. He is very familiar with my store, products and suppliers. In addition to copying my products, he also started a price war and snatched away shopping carts. My sales have been greatly affected. I can't sleep at night when I think about the fact that I cultivated an unethical opponent with all my heart and soul."

 

Another seller said that he had a popular product that was suddenly copied by a former employee, and he really didn't know what to do. In response, a colleague said that since he knew it was a former employee, he could just go to the door and hammer it . However, if his product has no copyright or patent, it's copied, and there is really no other way except hammering it.

 

Regarding this matter, rational colleagues said frankly that it is normal for a hot product to be copied. In fact, there are many operators in the industry who have left their jobs to work independently. After working independently, they are more familiar with the product categories of their former companies, so it is normal for them to sell the same products. If they can avoid copying others, not give bad reviews to their former employers, and compete on price in an open and aboveboard manner, then it is normal competition.

 

However, what many sellers are worried about is abnormal competition, such as copying and price-cutting, as well as maliciously giving bad reviews to the products of their former company.

 

A service provider revealed: "I evaluated two orders for an Amazon store last year, but never received the principal commission. I contacted the company's employee, and he said the company had closed down and let me do whatever I wanted. He also said it would be best to give the store a few bad reviews, and I don't know what grudge he had with the company."

 

For cross-border sellers, handling employee relations well is an important part in ensuring the smooth development of the company.
