Empty building! A cross-border company laid off a large number of employees, and employees lined up to "protect their rights"...

The cross-border e-commerce platform Vova is suspected of running away, and the main business of the cross-border veteran seller Global Easybuy has basically stagnated. The two may have different paths to the same tragic ending, but after "falling from the altar", they seem to have coincidentally embarked on the path of defaulting on employee wages and seller payments...

After the cross-border e-commerce platform Vova encountered problems, not only did merchants report that they had not received payment for goods, but even a large number of platform employees said that their wages had not been paid for a long time, and that no one in the company could be contacted. "In the company, colleagues use nicknames instead of real names, and there is a special internal chat software." This greatly increases the difficulty for employees who are owed wages to defend their rights!

Coincidentally, the once cross-border big seller Global Easy Shopping has also been caught up in the controversy of overdue payments to suppliers in recent years. It is reported that the main business of Shenzhen Global Easy Shopping has been basically stagnant since May 2021. Since the beginning of this year, suppliers have lined up to go to the Global Easy Shopping office to ask for payment. Similar to the situation of suppliers, a former employee of Global Easy Shopping also said that the company has owed two months' salary.

Vova, which is caught up in the controversy of defaulting on payments to sellers, is also exposed to have defaulted on employee wages!

Before the National Day, Yien reported that the Vova platform was suspected of running away and owed a large number of Chinese sellers money . At that time, it was suspected that the official staff of the Vova platform said that Vova had money and would definitely not owe sellers money, and the employees' wages were still being paid normally. However, almost a month has passed, and Vova has not only failed to pay the sellers, but has also been exposed to have owed wages to many employees! On many social platforms such as WeChat, the editor found a lot of voices saying that Vova lost contact after owing wages:

None of the laid-off employees received wages or compensation .

The company laid off its employees and the deadline for paying wages and severance pay on October 15 has passed . Currently, the company’s employees cannot be contacted and the boss has lost contact.

It's scary to think that colleagues in the company only know nicknames and not real names. If something goes wrong, all employees will be laid off and merchants will not care about them at all.

Among them, a former Vova intern posted a Weibo post detailing the situation of being owed wages:

On the afternoon of September 16, 2021, after lunch break, everyone worked normally. At about 2 o'clock in the afternoon, we received a notice to suspend our work and all members went home to rest. The company settled us and said that today's attendance was normal, and we have been waiting for notification to go to work at home for three or four consecutive days. In fact, the company had already encountered a crisis at that time, but none of us knew about it or were forced to be unaware of it. It was not until after the Mid-Autumn Festival that we received a notice to resume work.

On September 22, the interns in our department received a notice from HRBP that our internship was terminated and we would be given an internship certificate. At that time, HR did not send a notice or meet with us, but only called us in the knock, and asked us to go to the company to pack our personal belongings and complete the resignation procedures.

On September 23, we went through the formalities in the lobby on the 5th floor. No one came to communicate with us or arrange the follow-up. At that time, SSC gave us a voluntary resignation form, which stated that the interns resigned due to personal reasons. There was only one man who was processing the printing documents during the whole process, and the company was still recruiting people at that time.

At that time, everyone was in a panic and wanted to settle their wages so that they could start their next internship as soon as possible, but the company's finance department said that wages were paid uniformly and could only be settled for everyone. Because the company was really good to us, we kept waiting based on the principle of trust. During this period, we kept seeing various problems with the platform online, and we were scared and nervous. We really didn't expect that the company would not be able to settle wages on time as promised.

In addition to us interns, nearly 200 colleagues who worked with us day and night and worked overtime to catch up with the company's progress also got nothing . The company could not explain or deal with their social security and various financial issues. Everyone was particularly helpless ...

After seeing this Weibo post, I contacted the blogger to learn more about the situation. The intern at Vova told me that the company treated them well during their employment, and the company was also very nice on the day they left, and they took the initiative to calculate how much money each person had, so they "let down their guard." Who knew that until October 15, the employees' money had not been paid. The intern also told me that during this period they also wanted to ask for their wages from Vova, but they couldn't even find the relevant person in charge, let alone call.

" We all communicated with each other using Huaming and internal chat software, but they deleted all the data from their internal chat and ran away. "

A Vova employee said that in the company, colleagues use nicknames instead of real names, and their communication with department heads is generally limited to work, and basically nothing else. "When I was in the company, I didn't even know their real names, let alone phone numbers and other information. Now that I've left the company, even if I want my hard-earned money, I don't know how to ask for it."

In addition to interns, many regular employees said they had not received their wages. It was reported that an employee who claimed to be the boss's assistant and helped stabilize the sellers who went to the scene to defend their rights was also laid off by the company and has not received his full salary. He is currently defending his rights. There are also reports that Grove's investment manager has not received his salary.

"Regular employees at least have an agreement, but interns took the initiative to sign a resignation agreement for personal reasons, which means it is more difficult for us interns to protect our rights." An insider said that Lebei, Eitalai, Grove, Mocan, and Vova are all the same company, different departments under the same group. After Vova's incident, all the affiliated companies in that office building are now empty, and people from other business units don't go to the company anymore, and work directly from home. In desperation, many Vova employees have recently asked for help on the People's Daily leadership message board:

Among them, an employee left the following message on People's Daily Online: Shanghai Grove Information Technology Co., Ltd. encountered operational difficulties in September 2021 and laid off more than 200 employees of the company . The severance agreement stated that the severance pay and September wages, annual leave benefits, etc. would be converted and paid out on October 15, but they were not paid out. The company did not have any personnel to handle the matter, and the relevant personnel of the company could not be contacted.

"After the problem occurred, no one from the company came forward to solve it. This attitude only spread panic among everyone." Not only employees, but also sellers on the Vova platform are in torment.

How deep is Vova’s routine?

The platform suddenly collapsed, and many sellers on the platform suffered heavy losses.

A Vova seller said that our products were not infringing and were frozen, and no payment has been made so far. After this happened, I couldn't sleep all night. I don't know how to protect my rights, or who to contact, or who can take care of this matter. The manufacturer's payment has not been paid, and the employees' salaries have to be paid with borrowed money. The money that is deposited in the platform is also hard-earned money .

There are many similar voices: "The company can't find the contact person, the office building is empty, and it seems that the company has run away. Merchants have no way to protect their rights, and more merchants are waiting for emergency payment. The platform VOVA can't contact anyone, but from time to time it releases some soothing news that is not sure whether it is true or false, just to buy time for itself to deal with the aftermath. This is really a good routine. "

It is reported that some time ago, a suspected Vova official came out to make a promise : Vova will never owe merchants a penny, and will not run away, and will continue to do so. Some merchants are currently suffering some losses, and in the future, when the platform is operating normally, some traffic or subsidies will be provided to support the merchants.

In response to this statement, many Vova sellers expressed their disbelief. " Usually, assistants come out to stabilize suppliers first to facilitate the separation of bosses and executives. Finally, the assistants resign: Sorry, I don’t work there anymore ... That’s what Taojiji does. " Other industry insiders also said that Zhiyu also used various routines to stabilize suppliers first. The boss used this time to cash out and run away. Later, when the people were gone, the sellers were simply not paid.

It is impossible to verify whether the above statement is true or not. Because Vova has not officially spoken out until now, a large number of sellers and employees who are owed money feel insecure. When Ennet reported that Vova sellers' accounts were blocked, the official website could still be opened normally, and there were still many products on sale on the official website.

Now, the editor opened Vova’s official website again and found that there were only two products left on its homepage . These two products are a keyboard and mouse set and a women’s shirt. However, you can still add them to the shopping cart normally by clicking in.

Although there are only two products on the homepage, after opening other subcategories, I found that there are still many products on sale. However, under the category of "electronic products", whether it is a large category or a small category, the number of products is pitifully small.

" The reason why the number of products on Vova's official website has dropped sharply may be due to the removal of counterfeit and imitation brand products from the shelves, " a seller speculated.

In addition, the editor also checked Vova 's APP. After opening it, he found that its homepage is exactly the same as the official website homepage, and there are only two products (the products are the same as those on the official website homepage).

Many VOVA sellers said that looking at the current state of VOVA, they are afraid that it will really be out of business...

Global Easy Shopping's business deteriorated and it was listed as a person subject to execution by the court many times

In addition to Vova, Global Easy Shopping was also exposed for withholding employee wages.

Some time ago, Yien.com reported that Global Easy Shopping had been withholding employee wages. The whistleblower said that Global Easy Shopping was going to lay off 159 employees, including pregnant women , but would not pay the employees for the time being. The whistleblower also said that after the layoffs, only a few dozen people would be left in Global Easy Shopping, and those who remained would terminate their labor contracts with Global Easy Shopping and then transfer to ZAFUL to continue working.

It is reported that at that time, Global Easy Shopping stated that it would wait until the company went bankrupt on September 30 and the funds were unfrozen before compensating employees' wages. However, the bankruptcy liquidation of Global Easy Shopping was not accepted. Until yesterday, someone left a message on the social platform saying that Global Easy Shopping had owed employees' wages for July and August and had not yet paid them.

"The employees who were asked to stop receiving salary include those who are pregnant, having given birth, or breastfeeding. They may not be able to find a job in the next six months or even a year and may face survival issues. We hope that company leaders can assume basic responsibilities and arrange for the wages owed to employees." The demand of a former employee of Global Easy Shopping may be the collective demand of all employees who have been owed wages.

How much money does Global Shopping have left? According to public information, Global Shopping is owing money everywhere. Now, Global Shopping has been listed as a debtor by the Nanshan District People's Court of Shenzhen many times. In addition, Global Easy Shopping still has some loans that have not been repaid in its previous operations. Now, some creditors have sued Global Easy Shopping ...

According to Qichacha data, Global Easy Shopping is now involved in 328 legal cases , of which 79.27% are defendants and 5.18% are plaintiffs. 46.03% of the cases are sales contract disputes (151 cases), and most of the recent cases are sales contract disputes. In 2020, Global Easy Shopping had 103 new legal cases, and in 2021, it had 204 new legal cases.

The once leading cross-border enterprise is now entangled in legal issues and the company's operating conditions continue to deteriorate.

In its reply to the Shenzhen Stock Exchange's inquiry letter, Cross-Border Link stated that its subsidiary Shenzhen Global's business has declined sharply, core positions and key business employees have resigned one after another, and debt disputes with suppliers have further deteriorated its operating conditions. Since May, the operating quality of its main business has declined and is basically stagnant.

In fact, in the past two years, Global Easy Shopping's revenue has been in a state of sharp decline. Its revenue was 8.506 billion yuan in 2019, and it dropped to 5.629 billion yuan in 2020. Its business is still declining sharply in the first half of this year.

Currently, Global Easy Shopping's total debt has reached 3.379 billion yuan. Since the second half of 2019, suppliers and logistics companies have been blocking the door to demand debts. According to Global Easy Shopping employees, the company owes more than 3,000 suppliers a total of about 450 million yuan, and owes logistics about 300 million yuan, totaling more than 700 million yuan.

Global Easy Shopping has not repaid its 230 million yuan loan

In its reply to the Shenzhen Stock Exchange's inquiry letter, Global Easy Shopping also disclosed some of its current borrowing situations. Currently, Global Easy Shopping has a total of 230 million yuan in overdue loans.

These loans are from Shenzhen Global to Industrial and Commercial Bank of China Limited, Shenzhen Nanshan Branch, Shenzhen Global to Shenzhen Hi-Tech Investment Group Co., Ltd., and Zhaoqing Global to China Construction Bank Limited, Zhaoqing Branch. As of the end of September, these loans have not been repaid. The following is the details of these loans↓

1. Shenzhen Global and ICBC have had a long-term financing cooperation since 2016, with a maximum credit line of 150 million yuan. Shenzhen Global has been repaying the loan in installments since 2020. As the funds were not in place in time , ICBC filed an arbitration and bankruptcy liquidation against Shenzhen Global. The case is still in the arbitration period , and the remaining unpaid principal before the arbitration was filed is 21 million yuan.

2. As of now, the remaining outstanding amount of the loan that Shenzhen Global applied for from Hi-Tech Investment Co., Ltd. through Bank of Beijing Co., Ltd. is RMB 130 million . During this period, the company and Hi-Tech Investment Co., Ltd. have actively negotiated on the deferred repayment. Recently, Hi-Tech Investment Co., Ltd. has internally reviewed and approved the application for extending the loan period, which the company has also reviewed and approved, and has fulfilled its information disclosure obligations in a timely manner.

3. Zhaoqing Global has a long-term cooperative relationship with CCB Zhaoqing Branch. On April 15, 2021, the company disclosed the "Announcement on Guaranteeing Subsidiaries". Zhaoqing Global applied to CCB Zhaoqing Branch for a comprehensive credit line of no more than RMB 100 million, with a credit period of 2 years. The company, Shenzhen Global and Hong Kong Global provided joint and several liability guarantees for the credit. At the same time, Zhaoqing Global provided mortgage guarantees with part of the land and part of the above-ground buildings under its name. The company signed relevant guarantee contracts for related matters. During the subsequent performance of the contract, CCB Zhaoqing Branch unilaterally terminated the credit and urged the relevant accounts, and filed a lawsuit against the company for related matters. The company disclosed the "Major Litigation and Arbitration Announcement" on August 5, 2021. CCB Zhaoqing Branch filed a lawsuit for the above-mentioned loan, and the case is still in the litigation period . As of now, the remaining unpaid amount is RMB 80 million.

The above debts were disclosed by Cross-border Communication in the announcement, but there are also many undisclosed debts owed by suppliers. Previously, suppliers had come to Global Easy Shopping many times to collect debts, some even knelt down to Global Easy Shopping's legal representative to beg for repayment, some threatened to jump off a building to ask for repayment, and some even committed suicide by cutting their wrists to beg for repayment ...

Can Global Easybuy make a comeback? Most people say it is impossible. " We saw him build a tall building , we saw him entertain guests , and we saw his building collapse ! It is impossible for Global Easybuy to achieve glory again. "

Final Thoughts

From the Vova incident to the Global Easy Shopping incident, it is certain that similar incidents will not stop happening in the future.

To outsiders, it may seem like an accident that these two unrelated platforms have ended up with the same outcome. In fact, their ultimate fates are traceable. One focuses on massive distribution, while the other embraces "imitations". The former may think that they can get everything by means of brushing orders, while the latter may think that "if you take a chance, a bicycle will become a motorcycle." In the short term, they have both made money. However, whether it is disorderly distribution or "imitations" without value, they are all "abandoned children of the times" or are fading out of people's sight. As the tide recedes, the higher they stand, the harder they fall. However, people with real strength can continue to ride the wind and waves with their own strength.

Therefore, whether it is the platform or the seller, they must build their own product base and build a brand moat.
