JOYBUY platform ceases operations? JD.com responded...
Yien.com learned that recently, JOYBUY, a cross-border e-commerce platform under JD.com , issued an announcement, announcing that it will shut down the operations of the existing businesses of www.joybuy.com and www.jd.ru on December 9, 2021, and stated that it will terminate cooperation with contracted merchants.
Below is the original announcement ↓↓↓
Due to the company's strategic development needs, we will stop operating the existing business of https://www.joybuy.com and https://www.jd.ru from December 9, 2021. We will terminate our cooperation with you on the JOYBUY website in accordance with the agreement with you, that is, we will terminate the "JD JOYBUY.COM" Open Platform Online Service Agreement with all contracted merchants fifteen days after the release of this notice. (Special note: This termination of cooperation only applies to the online transaction business of the JOYBUY platform and does not affect the sales of merchants on third-party platforms.)
If you still have unfinished orders on joybuy.com and jd.ru, please follow the steps below: 1. For unfulfilled orders, please contact the user to cancel or ship the order within three days after the release of this notice. If you fail to perform the operation within the specified time, the system will cancel all unfulfilled orders on November 27, 2021, and you will be responsible for all the consequences.
2. For orders that have been fulfilled but are still in the after-sales period, please abide by the spirit of the contract, safeguard the rights and interests of customers, and provide the same after-sales service as always for orders in this state in accordance with the platform rules. If necessary, the platform will also contact the merchant to assist in resolving order issues.
At the same time, the platform will strictly settle the finances, rights and obligations that have occurred between it and each merchant in accordance with the contract between the two parties and other confirmed valid written agreements. The platform will also seal the merchant information stored on this website in accordance with the law until all subsequent matters are handled.
Judging from the content of the announcement, JD.com said that the decision to stop operating the JOYBUY platform was for better upgrading, but it still triggered speculation and discussion among many sellers. In the seller group, one seller said: "This is not a small move. What does JD.com's operation mean?"
Shortly after the announcement was made, JD International Public Relations responded, stating that this part of the business is currently under adjustment. The JOYBUY platform is currently adjusting and upgrading its business. The brand and format have not yet been finalized. They want to make some optimizations and integrations, and there will be new actions in the future, but the service does need to be suspended for a period of time.
Judging from the content of the reply, what JD International Public Relations said is basically consistent with the content of the announcement. It also clearly stated that there will be new actions on the JOYBUY platform in the future , and this suspension of service is just to accumulate strength for future development.
In the "Notice on JOYBUY Upgrading to a Cross-border B2B Transaction and Service Platform" released by JD.com , JOYBUY announced that in order to help more Chinese companies and Chinese brands expand their cross-border business overseas, JOYBUY will be upgraded to a cross-border B2B transaction and service platform to better serve global buyers and sellers.
JD.com is making great efforts to develop cross-border e-commerce!
It is understood that JD.com's JOYBUY business was officially launched in 2015. The platform has tens of thousands of product categories, covering fashion , home decoration, outdoor sports, home appliances, toys and other categories.
In recent years, JOYBUY has entered many parts of the world with great force. It has established websites such as www.joybuy.com ( English website ), www.jd.ru ( Russian website ) and www.joybuy.es (Spanish website) . Operated by domestic e-commerce giant JD.com, it provides consumers with high-quality and low-cost high-quality Chinese products and fast logistics services , and is deeply loved by overseas consumers. At present, the sales areas of its websites have covered 200 countries in Europe, North America, Canada and other regions .
JD.com's operation has made the JOYBUY platform quite popular among sellers. Some sellers have previously asked how to join. The editor learned that the merchants joining JOYBUY are mainly open platforms and self-operated, with POP (third-party) merchants being the main ones. High-quality goods are selected from POP merchants, and the self-operated model is introduced. JD.com purchases and sells them, and the merchants also develop into suppliers. Relevant data shows that JOYBUY focuses on attracting investment in 3C, clothing, home furnishings, home appliances, consumer goods, and auto parts.
Unlike other platforms, JOYBUY only requires merchants to pay a $1,000 quality guarantee deposit (which will be fully refunded when the store closes) and commissions for each category (ranging from 4% to 6%) to enter. In terms of JOYBUY's sales categories, the commission for 3C, maternity and baby, toys and other categories is 5%, and the commission for clothing accessories, sports and outdoor, jewelry and watches is 6%.
According to JOYBUY's earlier recruitment materials, the platform's requirements for operations specialists are: college degree or above, CET-4, proficiency in office software, etc. The main responsibilities of the position are: managing and maintaining account stability. Publish and edit product information; organize product marketing plans based on market information; process orders on JOYBUY, reply to emails, and maintain the store's positive reviews, etc.
If you go to the recruitment website to check JOYBUY's recruitment now , some positions show that they have expired, while others show that recruitment has been suspended. We don't know the specific reasons for this yet.
In addition to developing an independent cross-border e-commerce platform, JD.com is also moving towards Amazon. Earlier, JD.com chose to enter Amazon in a low-key manner, recruiting a large number of Amazon operators such as operations, procurement, and products, mainly recruiting positions closely related to cross-border e-commerce such as platform operation management, procurement and order tracking, and product development, and also placed its office in the most advanced regions for cross-border e-commerce development.
It now appears that JD.com's plan to develop a global e-commerce business has already begun, with JD.com International JOYBUY first testing the waters abroad, and then going against the current to compete with Amazon.
JD.com's pace of internationalization has not slowed down. Although its business performance in Southeast Asia has been slightly poor in recent years, in an interview during Double 11, JD.com Retail CEO Xin Lijun still revealed JD.com's determination and said that in the next few years, JD.com will increase investment in countries that meet its strategy.
Based on this, some industry insiders speculate that judging from JOYBUY’s announcement to stop operating the English and Russian sites of its cross-border B2C platform, JD.com may pay more attention to the selection of target markets in the future.
JD.com, which has been on the road of going overseas for many years, is still constantly adjusting its strategy, investing in Tiki, cooperating with Google and Walmart, and is about to upgrade to a cross-border B2B platform. How will JD.com perform on the international stage in the future? You may as well wait and see. JD.com Cross-border e-commerce JOYBUY |
