Two Chinese-made models were recalled, involving more than 200,000 units

Product recalls are not uncommon, and the categories involved are also diverse. Recently, two Chinese-made products were recalled, namely a mini flashlight and a calendar.

The recalled flashlights include two models, one of which is approximately 5.37 inches x 1.16 inches in size and comes in colors such as black, camouflage, and green. The other is approximately 4.19 inches x 0.91 inches in size and comes in colors such as black, red, and desert tan.

These flashlights will be sold from November 2019 to November 2021, and are available on the brand's official website, Amazon, and offline stores in the United States, with prices ranging from US$48 to US$120.

The reason for the recall is that the flashlight is easy to accidentally turn on when it is in a backpack or pocket, causing overheating and posing a risk of burns to consumers. So far, 127 reports of accidental overheating have been received , including 22 reports of burns, and 3 consumers have suffered second-degree burns.

These flashlights were manufactured in China and involve a recall of approximately 215,100 units.

Another product recalled is a calendar, which is divided into days and includes accessories, stickers and other handicrafts. The exterior is decorated like a small house with windows, and is divided into 12 themes according to different months .

The product is mainly sold in offline stores in California and Alabama , priced at about $13 , and is manufactured in China . The reason for the recall is that on the tenth day of the calendar, the surface paint contains lead content that exceeds the federal lead paint ban, posing a risk of lead poisoning.

If paint is ingested, excessive lead can be toxic or cause other health problems for young children. Several independent studies conducted in accordance with CPSC standards have shown that the lead content in some brands of children's products exceeds 30 times the regulatory authorities allow. On November 30 last year , the Governor of New York also enacted new legislation requiring certain products using lead-based wire casings to be labeled with warning labels.

Product recalls will not only increase buyers’ logistics costs, but also affect brand reputation. Regardless of the category, sellers must strictly control product quality, restore the reputation of Made in China, and help domestic products go overseas.
