Dollar General to add another 10,000 jobs by 2022

It is not difficult to find that since the epidemic has eased, as the economy has recovered, demand has surged, and companies across the United States have continued to launch a recruitment spree to fill job vacancies.

 

According to the latest news, the US discount retail chain Dollar General plans to hire another 10,000 employees before the end of this fiscal year. The reason for this recruitment is mainly due to the need for business expansion.

The company said on Friday that it will open 1,110 more locations to fill new positions in stores, distribution centers and its private driver fleet . This includes about 100 new pOpshelf stores. The company also plans to add new traditional and DG Fresh distribution centers and further expand its DG Private Fleet network. As a result, the company plans to add another 6% of employees to its existing workforce .

 

Dollar General was founded in 1939 and provides consumers with convenience, quality brands, and low prices. The retailer opened its 18,000th store in November 2021 and has locations in 46 states in the United States. As of October 29, 2021, Dollar General operates 17,915 stores in 46 states.

 

"At Dollar General, our people are the heart of the company...We are excited to continue to evolve and offer individuals new opportunities to start or grow their careers, and the company looks forward to welcoming new talent to the family this year," Kathy Reardon, Dollar General's chief people officer, said in a statement.

 

Additionally, she added, they continue to make meaningful and positive investments in their hometown through the growth of new stores and distribution centers, which enables them to remain committed to providing more training, development, advancement and education opportunities for their associates.

 

According to the company's financial report, the retailer's net sales reached US$8.5 billion in the fourth quarter of 2021 , an increase of 3.9% , same-store sales decreased by 0.6%, an increase of 11.6% on a two-year basis, and operating profit was US$665.6 million, accounting for 7.8% of net sales .

 

The company said in its earnings release that net sales growth was driven primarily by positive sales contributions from new stores, partially offset by a small decline. Fourth-quarter and full-year results are not yet available.
