Australia Post delivers 52 million parcels per month!

According to the latest data from Australia Post, they had a bumper Christmas in December. Many Australians chose to buy gifts for their relatives and friends at Christmas, resulting in a record high number of parcels shipped by air across the country. In December, Australia Post delivered a total of 5,200 parcels during the peak period, an increase from the number during the October and November shopping festivals.

At peak operations, Australia Post had 25 dedicated air freighters taking to the skies every night , delivering a total of 8.7 million kilograms of parcels. On the busiest day in December, 556 tonnes of parcels were delivered.

Group CEO and Managing Director Graham said they had spent months preparing for this wonderful and busy Christmas season. "We are grateful to Australians for their patience and support during this challenging period, and so many customers have responded to our call for shopping and early delivery, which has given us an early look ahead of our traditional December peak, both in terms of delivery and online shopping."

Modern conveniences such as online shopping and parcel tracking also helped Australians spend a busy and fulfilling festive period during the Christmas season . More than 20 million Australians went to Australia Post outlets in person to send cards and gifts and collect parcels. During December, Australia Post collected more than 475,000 items in free parcel lockers across the country, the highest number ever in a single month.

Since 2020, online shopping in Australia has increased by 1.5% year-on-year and increased by 37.5% compared to 2019, with more than 5.6 million Australian households shopping online for their loved ones.

Taking advantage of new technology, Australians also managed their deliveries in record numbers through the Australia Post app and website, with more than 83 million visits to the website and nearly 5 million new ETA (estimated time of arrival) alerts, helping Australians through a busy Christmas by notifying customers that parcels will arrive before Christmas.

The above data also shows that Australians are becoming more and more dependent on online shopping. Most people have the habit of giving gifts to relatives and friends during festivals, and under the influence of the epidemic, they also choose to buy gifts online. In addition to the fact that the prices online are more favorable, it is also because the delivery and other services are more convenient, saving consumers a lot of time.

Therefore, sellers that are planning to expand into Australia can provide better services to local consumers by improving services and optimizing package delivery procedures, thereby leaving a good impression on them and increasing sales.
