Amazon launches return and resale function, reducing sellers’ costs by 100%!

For many Amazon sellers, especially those in the clothing category, high return rates have been suppressing their already limited profit margins.

Sometimes the costs associated with processing returned products are even higher than the value of the product itself. Therefore, some sellers only process refunds when customers request returns, which is equivalent to losing both money and goods.

However, Amazon has launched a project called Automated Grade and Resell Programme , which aims to help sellers resell returned products and reduce losses caused by returns.

According to Amazon, the automated rating and resale program can maximize the value of returned products, which can be resold as second-hand items.

In addition, Amazon warehouses will be responsible for all processes for reselling returned products, so sellers no longer need to worry about various tedious matters.

From Amazon's perspective, reselling returned orders is much more cost-effective than destroying the products or sending them back to the seller. If the returned products are in good condition, direct resale is a good thing for the seller, Amazon, and environmental protection.

For sellers, if products that should have been discarded can be sold again, it is a great way to make a profit without any investment, and the cost can be reduced by 100% immediately!

If sellers want to activate Amazon's return and resale program, they can select Grade and Resell on the Automated Unfulfillable Settings page of FBA in Seller Center.

Once the application is approved, Amazon's return order specialist will automatically review the return order from the category seller, list it under the parent ASIN and mark it as second-hand.

After the link is created, the seller can modify it and re-price it according to the specific conditions of the product, such as:

Almost new products can be priced at 95% of the original price.

Slightly used ones can be priced at 90% of the original price.

In Amazon's words, this project not only saves sellers time in processing return orders, but also helps sellers save costs and further relieve inventory pressure. It is a good feature that kills two birds with one stone.

However, some people were not happy with the feature, replying: "The problem is that different people have different standards for the condition of used items. Just like eBay, it is possible to buy an item that says 'almost new' in the description and then find that it is completely unusable."

Although there is no good solution to this problem, overall this feature has more benefits. As the cost of returns is reduced, sellers' future profit margins may further increase.
