According to global research results from Episerver, a survey agency , 38% of British consumers shop online at least once a week, more than any other region surveyed, followed by 26% in the United States and 21% in Australia. As online consumption habits are formed, this trend is also on the rise.

 

Mobile shopping is growing. With the popularity of smart devices, shopping via mobile apps is becoming more mainstream, and according to the UK Communications Authority, the average British person checks their phone every 12 minutes. Mobile shopping has the potential to become the preferred channel for online shopping and may change consumers' shopping habits forever.

 

The importance of social media. Nowadays, social e-commerce is becoming increasingly popular, especially with the rise of short videos represented by Tik Tok. Various social media have become a source of inspiration for consumers to shop, and an important channel for sellers to promote their products. Short videos have become a place to create hits. Whether a product is novel or ordinary, it is very likely to become popular with the help of short videos' entertainment promotion. A survey shows that consumers who use social media are four times more likely to make a purchase .

 

The concept of sustainability has gradually gained popularity. The prosperity of the e-commerce market has driven the sales growth of sellers, but it has also inevitably brought more environmental problems, such as excessive packaging. In particular, e-commerce giants such as Amazon and Walmart are often accused of this and are currently working on low carbon emissions. A foreign survey showed that nearly 73% of consumers hope that online brands will use recyclable packaging or minimize the use of packaging.

 

Although 2021 is a relatively difficult year, it has also made many sellers realize that compliance and steady progress are the key. The new year has just begun, with opportunities and challenges coexisting. Sellers must also adjust their layout reasonably based on market trends.
