UK spends £94.4 billion over Christmas

Christmas is approaching, and the British celebrate Christmas in various forms every year. In order to better understand their preferences, Next recently surveyed 2,000 British respondents to find out how they celebrate Christmas, from the arrangement of Christmas decorations, to clothing, dinner, gifts and other aspects.

According to statistics, consumers spend up to £1,380 on their loved ones every year before Christmas , of which the most important is the selection of gifts for children, with an average of about £130 spent on each child . In addition to dinner, drinks are also essential, and soda, tea, coffee, wine and beer are all popular.

As for the choice of Christmas gifts, another study shows that people prefer to receive practical products . The most popular gifts are gift cards and cash , followed by beautiful clothes , and then movie or show tickets . In addition, alcohol and perfume are also popular gift options.

Affected by the tight supply chain and the decline in economic levels, consumers' shopping concepts this year tend to be environmentally sustainable . Two-fifths of consumers said they would reuse Christmas decorations instead of buying new ones, and as for Christmas trees, a quarter said they would buy reusable Christmas trees instead of real live ones.

When it comes to online shopping, excessive packaging is a major concern for consumers . 30% of respondents said they would not repurchase from sellers of online orders with excessive packaging , and they also paid more attention to environmentally friendly packaging and issues related to carbon emissions when selecting products.

Christmas, as an important Western holiday, has always been celebrated with great fanfare, and naturally various Christmas gifts are indispensable. However, with the recent recurrence of the epidemic and the development of online shopping habits, e-commerce platforms have become the first choice for many consumers. The Christmas peak season is about to end, and sellers must seize the last opportunity to reasonably arrange their market layout.
