Amazon sellers please note! IPI assessment for the first quarter of 2022 will be postponed

Yesterday afternoon, according to an official email from Amazon, the Inventory Performance Index (IPI) assessment for the first quarter of 2022 will be postponed to mid-December.

Amazon said that in order to better reflect the business performance of sellers during the 2021 holiday season, the inventory performance index (IPI) assessment for the first quarter of 2022 will be postponed to mid-December. Sellers are requested to pay close attention to the official Amazon channels for notifications on the IPI score check cycle and threshold.

In the email, Amazon reiterated the IPI assessment requirements for the new quarter: Amazon will adjust the seller's inventory storage limits based on the seller's historical IPI score and available operation center capacity. Each quarter includes two assessments. As long as the seller's IPI score at one of the assessment nodes meets the Amazon inventory performance index threshold, the seller can enjoy unlimited storage capacity in the next quarter. Otherwise, the seller will be subject to storage restrictions in the next quarter.

Currently, Amazon recommends that sellers keep their inventory performance index scores above the thresholds required by each site. At the same time, Amazon said that sellers must be aware of the inventory performance index thresholds of the site where their store is located to avoid affecting the store's storage capacity.

Regarding how to improve the store's IPI score, Amazon officials stated that sellers can optimize the inventory structure by increasing sales rates, removing unsold inventory, and repairing product information with "no sales information" to achieve the goal of improving the store's IPI score.

But at present, in addition to the storage capacity limit, the store's maximum shipping quantity limit has a greater impact on sellers. Many sellers reported that even if the IPI score meets the requirements, the maximum shipping quantity given by Amazon is small, so the restrictions on replenishment are still high.

Therefore, before the new quarter's storage restrictions come, sellers need to plan the store's inventory structure in advance and allocate corresponding inventory capacity according to the sales of each product. Products with poor performance need to be abandoned in a timely manner, or handled in a timely manner through promotions, Amazon official clearance and other channels to minimize losses.
