Bukalapak imposes 0.5% minimum service tax on MSMEs

This year, Bukalapak will impose a service tax of 0.5% on micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) , which is the lowest tariff value offered by Indonesian e-commerce platforms to MSMEs .

It is understood that Bukalapak did this to support the business resilience of MSME participants as the epidemic continues to spread . One of the important measures is to use Bukalapak 's super seller function to help merchants gain more profits from sales on the Bukalapak platform.

Currently, there are hundreds of thousands of MSME participants registered as Super Sellers on Bukalapak , and the Super Seller service has the potential to help customers increase their transaction volume by up to 15 times.

Merchants who subscribe to Bukalapak’s Super Seller service can enjoy a host of benefits including free unlimited shipping , exclusive cashback vouchers and 5% promotional budget , among others.

Bukalapak vice president of marketing Kurnia Rosyada explained that the gradual increase in internet user penetration during the pandemic also encouraged Bukalapak to continue developing its platform for MSME players.

This penetration of digitalization has also led to an increase in the number of MSMEs, but has also brought new challenges, especially in terms of business resilience.

By imposing a minimum service tax of 0.5% on MSMEs , Bukalapak can help MSMEs improve their quality of life and contribute to the development of Indonesia’s digital economy.

Meanwhile, Bukalapak said that in addition to providing the best service to customers, following proper procedures in trading and utilizing the features provided by Bukalapak to further increase sales, traders must also be proficient in trend monitoring.

As we head into early 2021, items related to the pandemic remain Bukalapak’s top searches, followed by hobbies , supporting family activities such as ornamental plants and gaming consoles.

These information trends will also be distributed to super salespeople through webinars so they can make better use of super sales services.

Additionally, earlier this month, Bukalapak also launched the Pelapak Indonesia Contest, a special initiative open to MSME players across Indonesia that aims to help them earn more from their Bukalapak sales through various attractive rewards .

It is understood that the Pelapak Indonesia Contest will be held from February 1 to 28, 2021, during which a series of events will be held, followed by educational training and business development training for pelapak through online seminars .
