Spanish Christmas consumption trend report released: 41% of people prefer to place orders at night

Kantar , a data analysis company , published a report on Christmas spending trends among Spanish consumers on the eBay platform. The results showed that Spaniards plan to spend an average of 259 euros on Christmas gifts, 7% more than the 240 euros in last year's survey.

51% of respondents said they will buy the same amount of goods online this year as last year, while about 40% of consumers said they plan to buy more goods online than last year.

This shows that even under the influence of the epidemic and supply chain crisis, Spanish people still have a high enthusiasm for shopping, and they are shifting more of their purchase focus to online.

On the other hand, shopping for children still accounts for the largest part of the budget, totaling 164 euros, followed by spending between couples and spending for parents, with budgets of 92 euros and 66 euros respectively. Categories such as toys and children's clothing still show good sales momentum.

While 30% of respondents said they needed a few days to consider whether to buy, only 8% said their decision time was around 1 hour.

This also shows that most Spanish consumers are rational about online shopping. In addition to the products they have already chosen, they may also "passionately order" products that catch their eye .

Another factor that can make them "passionate about placing an order" is shopping time.

Previous surveys have shown that about 41% of Spaniards like to shop online at night, a proportion that was 35.3% in 2020; more than 39% of respondents said that there is no specific time to place an order, but they usually shop online using their mobile phones in the afternoon or evening.

Driven by various factors this year, shopping in advance and choosing small and medium-sized online merchants nearby are the shopping priorities of most Spanish consumers.

Because of the big discount promotions such as Black Friday and Cyber Monday in November, 43% of Spanish consumers have completed the purchase of Christmas gifts; while 35% of consumers continue to choose to buy Christmas gifts in December.

54 % of Spaniards plan to buy Christmas gifts from small and medium-sized enterprises, because they have more inventory and the competition is not as fierce as that of large platforms.

This year's year-end shopping promotion is already halfway through. Regardless of whether current sales have reached your ideal level, only by understanding the latest consumer trends based on existing data can we achieve better results in the remaining holidays and future sales.
